There’s nothing cuter than a little trying so hard to be a big kid, trying so hard to hold it together, all teary-eyed and quivering lips. Then I gasp, all big and dramatic as if the reason they're upset is the biggest, worst possible thing in the whole world. "Oh!! My poor baby! C'mere, little one. Tell Mama what's wrong, hm?" I sweetly coo at them with the most exaggerated pouty face and they just crumble. Poor thing bursting into tears and reaching up to be held. They don't ever have to be big n’ brave around Mommy. I immediately scoop 'em right up and pet the back of their head, bounce 'em on my hip like I’m soothing a fussy baby. Because they sooo are. They’re much too little to do anything but cry for Mama to make it all better. 🥹
