I love this photo. It signifies so much to me. I know I look dreadful, but in all fairness I had been in labour, and then on the operating table having two babies cut out my belly only 24 hours before it was taken. The first 24 hours is a blur, but I was in complete shock. I remember feeling dreadful that I didn’t have “that” feeling, that every new parent talks about. 💙 I remember waking up the following day and the initial adrenaline had worn off. At that point it really hit me. I had successfully managed to bring my two babies into the world. And even with their premature arrival, they were pretty stable. 💙 Gavin then wheeled me back to the NICU, and by then I was able to shuffle from the wheelchair onto the chair beside their incubators. I then got to have a proper cuddle with each of them. My physical pain instantly disappeared, and “that” feeling washed over me. A complete overpowering feeling of love that I’d never felt before. I loved them when they were in my tummy, but nothing can prepare you for that first cuddle. 💙 I always wonder if I had that initially physical contact with the boys, if I would have had that sensation quicker? They were quickly whisked away, with not even a brief look at them. For the first few hours, I only had a couple of photos Gavin took on his phone to confirm that they even existed. 💙 I know it’s selfish but I feel like I was robbed of my pregnancy, as we never allowed ourselves to get too attached, just incase something happened (like our consultant reinforced every week!). But I also feel like those first skin to skin moments were robbed from us too. I hope that if we have more children that we get to enjoy those times. 💙 #throwback #motherhood #motherhoodunplugged #newborn #csection #labor #twins #baby #babies #son #mum #mom #themomtribefl8 #socialmumsfeb #mompreneurfl3 #instamoms #throwback (at Lister Hospital)
