"hayley's opinion is irrelevant since she's a celebrity that lives in a mansion"
a comment I saw under her performance of ice in my OJ. during the song she spoke up against ice and said free palestine (and she's right!!!). so it left me pretty disappointed to see all the pro-ice and pro-israel comments, but this one stood out to me the most.
and I do disagree. hayley is a very important person, she's human too, and I love that she uses her platform to advocate for what is right - and that's what every celebrity should do. with the platform they have, they should talk about these things, because INNOCENT people are DYING/being taken away from their families.
I actually do think her opinion is VERY relevant. and even if she lives in a mansion, it doesn't mean she feels completely disconnected from the rest of humanity. she knows what is going on and advocates against it. after all, she didn't always live in a fucking mansion.
another important thing to note is the double standards - y'all will be pissed if a celebrity doesn't speak up, but when they do, it's irrelevant, or they're "too political."
the comment then went to highlight how they liked her before she got "all political."
let me remind you, paramore is a pop punk band and even the emo culture itself shares core values with punk - WE ARE PUNK TOO, OUR CULTURE COMES FROM PUNK. so it would make zero sense if hayley kept her opinions to herself - they're not even opinions. they're human rights.
the commenter was also apparently surprised that art is political 🤷.
