NOT SO FAST!
Over the past year we planted 150 milkweed plants in the Children’s Garden meadow! This area includes our Monarch Waystation and is dedicated to attracting butterflies, monarchs in particular. What a perfect place to look for monarch butterflies (and caterpillars)! You will find about 100 Asclepias tuberosa plants (pictured), 50 Asclepias syriaca, and about 10 Asclepias verticilata, all native species that welcome the hot, dry conditions in the meadow. #Asclepias #pollinators #Asclepiastuberosa #Asclepiassyriaca #Asclepiasverticilata #Monarchs #MonarchWaystation #va #rva #native #gardens #rvagardentrail (at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden)
This is whorled milkweed! It’s native to Wisconsin, and so many people don’t realize it’s milkweed while coming across it in nature. I recently planted some in my #monarchwaystation. 🦋 #plantnative #plantmilkweed (at Loew Lake Unit, Kettle Moraine State Forest) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChFWEtULWsN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Swamp #milkweed blooms! 🌸 It also wouldn’t be milkweed without milkweed beetles! #plantmilkweed #prairiegarden #monarchwaystation (at Orfordville, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgZhepCL3Q-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Finally got around to putting this sign up even though the garden has been registered since October. 😅 #monarchwaystation #butterflygarden #plantnative #plantmilkweed (at Orfordville, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce0x2aluDUP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The pollinator garden is really waking up! 🌱🦋🐝 Some of what you see (in no particular order): Joe Pye Weed, Bee Balm, Obedient Plant, Black-eyed Susan, Purple Coneflower, Common Milkweed, Purple Victoria 💖 #patriciasprairie #monarchwaystation #pollinatorgarden #prairiegarden #savemonarchbutterflies #plantmilkweed #plantnative (at Orfordville, Wisconsin) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd1fmUjPEdn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
