For everyone's reference: the flower on top-left is a poppy (flower that is the symbol of the First world War in Flanders and beyond, see [In Flanders Fields](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Flanders_Fields)), the Lion is the national emblem of Flanders (it also is the title of a [novel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lion_of_Flanders_(novel)) that kind of founded the basis of Flemish nationalism on the Goudensporenslag, the [Battle of the Golden Spurs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Golden_Spurs) in Courtrai on 11th July 1302), "Graafschap Vlaanderen" means "County of Flanders" since Flanders is historically referred to as a [county](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_of_Flanders) (from 86x-1797), and the yellow/gold color band at the bottom is because the [original flag](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Flanders) of Flanders is a black stylised lion on a golden field (see also [Flanders' coat of arms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Flanders)). I must credit u/RednaxB for the original idea, he posted a [similar flag](https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/comments/diry6q/flanders_in_the_style_of_california_with_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) about a year ago.
