Entertainment Business Finance
Before I entered Entertainment Business Finance course in Month 5 of my Master’s Degree, I had two goals: 1) determine how much it would cost to launch Celestial’s Design and 2) determine what type of services I could provide to produce consistent revenue every month. For the past three years, I have going back and forth trying to determine what type of business I wanted to launch; I want to create a business that would still be current in twenty plus years. While taking this course, I finally realized that I wanted to turn one of my passions into a lucrative business. I could invest my own money and have constant revenue monthly that will eventually lead to a larger expansion.
After completing week one of the Entertainment Business Finance course, I noticed that although I researched the entertainment industry, I needed to physically apply what I was learning in my current position as the Event Coordinator for Queens of Kulture, Inc. Secondly, I had to create and finalize the blueprint for my business, so that I can launch it in one to two years. By the end of the third week, this course allowed me to figure out how much it would cost to launch Celestial’s Design, an event planning business that would not plan and execute private and public events for current and future clientele but help plan domestic and international trips for others. To add on, this course helped me understand that I would not necessarily have to launch a large-scale business, but rather a small-scale business that would one day become large. In other words, I could run Celestial’s Design from a small office rented with the basic materials and network with other event planners and coordinators to then create packages at affordable prices. In the end, Entertainment Business Finance has helped me plan the financial aspect of my business while helping me make sure that everything else in the business is properly executed in order to make money.
