Using BlueBird For Points And Minimum Spending
Loading BlueBird – The Niles, IL Wal-Mart Experience
So you have purchased a few prepaid Vanilla debit cards, from CVS, 7-11, or your local food store and now you need to get them loaded onto your BlueBird. When purchasing these cards remember that if you’re not trying to meet a minimum spending on a card, to use the card that will get you the most value for your spending. Example: If you purchase your reload cards at a 7-11 using your Sapphire Preferred card and it is getting coded as a gas station, you will get 2.14 points per dollar you spend. (2x base plus the 7% annual dividend)
The best way to load these prepaid debit cards onto your BlueBird is to load them using the Wal-Mart MoneyCenter ATM. You can go directly to any register, but after Matt’s experience at the Wal-Mart in Niles, IL, it is best to stick the automated ATM.
The ATM is located right near the Wal-Mart returns department, which is typically located off to the left when you enter the store. Doing this your first time can be a little daunting, so I have made a video of the entire process as well as taking pictures of every step along the way. The hope is that when you go up to the ATM you can feel like you have done this hundreds of times, and make you feel more comfortable as well.

You will want to select WalMart MoneyCard. You will see BlueBird and you will be tempted to click that, but from the WalMart’s I have tried selecting that option at, when entering $500.00 they always want to call an attendant over, so I will just stick with the loading a MoneyCard route.
Once you click WalMart MoneyCard, you will click reload.
This screen is going to let you know that you can load a max of $1000 per month. Go ahead and click continue.
You will now swipe your BlueBird card.
Key in 500.00 or whatever domination that is on the debit card up to $500 a reload.
Slide your prepaid debit card
After sliding your prepaid debit card, enter your pin.
Select if you want cash back, click yes or no
Conform that the amount you entered that you want to load is correct
If everything goes through okay it will say ‘Thank You for using the MoneyCenter Express’ Take your receipt and be on your way or load another debit card.
Note: The reason you are only going to load $500 at a time, is because anything higher and the machine will require an override from a manager. At this point I would prefer not to get involved with any Wal-Mart staff.
