This week two of my OTP have become canon. What a great week!
A beautiful week indeed!
People doubted Guzmeria but it still is a thing! I knew that they were super close in canon, but I’m even happier that they’re that canon <3
And also, congrats on your other OTP!! It’s just amazing all around!
I'm curious, what is your favourite Ace Attorney case and why? Sorry if you've answered this before
Hmm, favorite Ace Attorney case?
...It’s a tie between Bridge to Turnabout and Farewell my Turnabout, because both of these really take full advantage of the characters’ emotional ranges. You really feel with them through all the twists and turns, as the plot unfolds and some of the consequences explored are really terrifying. Plus, they’re just iconic in what they mean to the series.
I could replay those two a million times over and they’d never get old.
I really want a sequel/spin off of Connor and Hank solving crimes together. Best buddy cops ever
oh this. this is a MOOD
So someone found in P5's data evidence that suggests Akechi was going to have his own Palace. That sounds pretty interesting, it would be a good addition in P5 Crimson or whatever they'll call it. They also said that the anime is going to have differences with the game, and a lot of people believe that it's something about Akechi since they are giving him more spotlight so he may become an important character in the anime
Like he wasn’t a very important character already.
I think the differences in P5A compared to P5 are going to be very similar to the differences in P4A to P4, as in; more depth added to the main character’s involvement in certain situation, and changes to certain confrontation. This might very well include more impressive Akechi scenes. I don’t think adding a dungeon just for him would make much sense though, even if it as original planned; while I can imagine the theming very well, it would feel redundant, since Akechi’s appearance in Shido’s dungeon already worked very well as it was. Adding a whole dungeon just for him could add pacing problems in form of a fragmented climax.
Merry Christmas!
happy holidays!
You ARE very correct, I do agree that from a gameplay perspective Confidants are really good. But from a personal perspective, I feel like Joker decided to be their friend at first only because he wanted something in return, while in P3 and P4 was more like... hanging out with club buddies, or helping a new acquaintance with their personal problems. This way is more like you decide to do a specific Confidant because it was useful not because it was interesting to you. That's my opinion at least
I think this has to do with Yaldabaoth’s influence on how the game plays out. He was manipulating Joker from the start, and so, he repurposed Igor’s system of the Social Links into becoming something more selfish, more befitting of Yaldabaoth’s purposes, so that was how Joker treated it at first.
However, I feel the game did make it clear that, as these relationships progressed, Joker ended up learning of the Social Links’ true meaning on his own accord, breaking through Yaldabaoth’s superficial illusions in the process and forging true bonds through it, which go beyond just fulfilling a mere deal, but actually holding a true appreciation for each other. That’s why in the ending, when Joker sacrificed himself, all of his “Confidants” came to help him, even though their deals were already fulfilled. It was no longer just about the deals, just about “cooperation”. They were true relationships; Social Links. And thus, while Yaldabaoth tried to twist the Social Link system into something self-serving to prove his point about humanity, in the end, they were still more to the characters, discrediting his delusions once and for all.
At least, that’s how I read it, heh.
While I think P5's confidants are great, there is one thing that makes me prefer some of the past games better. The thing with P5 is that the confidants gave you something, it's like you were their friend for convenience's sake; because they helped you in your mission. Sure, then it develops into true friendship and you help them a lot, but I kinda prefer Social Links that truly felt like selfless friendship. You did them for satisfaction, not to get something in return, it's less forceful
Yep, from a Gameplay Standpoint, it was a genius move! It gave the Social Link system finally a purpose beyond filling out your time, a tangible one, that even people who rarely change Persona (read: me) profit from.
It also brilliantly foreshadows the plottwists involving the Velvet Room, by confronting you with a completely different philosophy behind the system than what has been used before. Persona 5 is great at tying everything together in a satisfying way and not letting useless pieces dangle around. It’s a very efficient game.
