The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. It’s like Tim Burton before Tim Burton was a thing.
Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if old German Expressionism films were what influenced Burton.

best dad stoic the vast
Yoooo heck yea!
Favorite thing about them: I love how human he is! The first movie especially goes out of its way not to demonize him or make the conflict between him and Hiccup one-sided or black and white. He’s technically the antagonist to Hiccup’s story for most of the movie, but he’s not a bad guy. He’s sympathetic and with a conflict of interest between his duties to his village, the ideals he grew up with, and his love for his son. For as big and tough a guy as he is, he’s still a complex person with a capacity for very tender feelings and moments.
Least favorite thing about them: Not a fan of his dense tough guy moments, which are basically all in the tv show. Stuff like him being super demeaning to Toothless when trying to ride him in the How to Pick Your Dragon episode, references of how he doesn’t like Hiccup (”He’s looked angry since the day I was born”), it all just feels rather flat to how he’s portrayed in the movies and short films. And with the latter, I get that his and Hiccup’s relationship still isn’t perfect after the first movie since the two are just so different in interests and personality, but Stoick being that closed-minded and the story occasionally acting like he and Hiccup are still estranged just feels like shallow writing to me.
Favorite line: But with love comes loss. That’s part of the deal.
Random headcanon: I lowkey like buying into the headcanon of Snotlout and Hiccup being cousins like they are in the books, so in turn Stoick and Spitelout as brothers. Thus, the current competition between their two families would have originated from brotherly rivalry from when they were growing up.
Unpopular opinion: I’m not a fan of his voice actor’s performance in the tv series. The only reason for this is because it sounds so much like a non-Scottish person trying too hard to do a Scottish accent. I didn’t notice at first, but the more I listened, the more I heard that rolling r sound at the end of what felt like every one of his words. It’s just hard on my ears now.
And I suppose while we’re on the subject, and since this is the second time I’ve referenced it, ngl there’s a lot about the show (at least the first few seasons I’ve seen) that annoys me, mainly that it basically undoes a lot of character progression that happened at the end of the first movie and its short films.
Song I associate with them: Hmm... Probably unsurprisingly, a number of the songs from the soundtrack, namely those from scenes he’s prominent in. This is also kind of silly, but sometimes MCR’s Welcome to the Black Parade gives me Stoick post-death vibes, like as though as part of the grieving process, Hiccup put on all black and took up singing in a rock band. I don’t know x3
Favorite picture of them:
There’s tons of fun fan art I discovered just from a couple internet searches today, so I’ll stick to official stuff to avoid being wishy washy. I’ve always really liked this pic of him and Hiccup (with a little nod to Valka), as it’s one of the few times we see them from HTTYD1 as a happy family. He just looks so proud!

♥!When Atif was about 8 he had a fireman phase. It was so cute he had this little toy firetruck and a hat and everything; he saw it as Super Cool, and wanted to be a fireman when he grew up. Unfortunately, being 8 he didn’t really have much impulse control or good judgment. So there were a few incidents where he put out the neighbours’ backyard firepits with the garden hose. There was one incident where he missed, and got the neighbour with the hose instead.Between his grandma’s embarrassment and Jamil’s endless joking about it afterwards, he lost interest in the profession fairly fast.
white. but it's a respectful fear.
Lol. I suppose what I post can be pretty unpredictable.
🔥 the star wars prequels (yes this is because i've been staring at grumpy grievous in your header)
The clones all having Inhibitor Chips was pretty dumb tbh. I get why they exist; Filoni likes his Clone fanservice, so it’d make a lot of people angry to see the all the cool guys we saw hanging out with Anakin, Obi, and Ahsoka just turn at the drop of a hat because ‘muh orders,’ so with the chips it makes Order 66 Double Sad(tm) because not even the clones liked it.
But at the same time it feels like Filoni/George/Whoever just wanted to have their cake and eat it. They want to make it seem like The Republic is bad and the Jedi are corrupt and lost their way, but at the same time they also want le cool war stories and fun likeable clones having shenanigans. Going for the “Oh, the only winner in the clone wars was Spinning Sheev” angle is an easy way to get by that.
But personally, this
holds a lot more power.
i always made the assumption you liked space stuff as a kid!
Well I’ve always been a Star Wars fan lol. And I did take a good share of trips to NASA back when I lived in Houston, and I’ve got this displayed in my room.
So… yep. Right on the money there Moni.
thirteen!!
13. Your favourite comedy film?
The middle schooler in me wants to say Tenacious D & the Pick of Destiny, but right now I’d have to say Psycho Goreman.
There’s definitely moves that have made me laugh more, but growing up on things like Billy & Mandy and other series that the movie is satirizing and making fun of, it’s a fun watch.
That and this poster is really cool, I wish I had this poster.
grievous, yang, and wonder woman for some reason
I can get Grievous, he was my pfp for a good while and that one gif is still my banner. I do make a lot of RWBY posts and am a blonde so Yang makes sense.
But Wonder Woman certainly wasn’t one I was expecting, lol.
