The trick is you can only have one named the name at a time. I named one Ranier, evolved it, changed the name to vaporeon, named a second Ranier, and got another vaporeon. At least, that's how it worked for me, each time I've done it. I've controlled all my evolutions so far, with two of each. Now I'm just stocking eevee candy for when umbreon and espeon are introduced.

:O !!! I’ll have to try that! I’ve got 26 eevee candies at the moment, but the three Eevees I have aren’t quite high enough that I want to evolve them. I’ll have to test that out though, thank you! It’d be nice if it worked haha (man I’m stoked for Umbreon / Espeon too, those were the first two eevolutions I ever had!)

A one to two bedroom apartment here is no less than 1200$ and can go as high as 4000$ a month, so I feel your pain. ��

The lowest I’ve seen them here is usually around $650, but I’ve seen a 1 bedroom go up to $1,200 before (no utilities included). Like... if I had the money for that, I would buy a house??? Jesus. It’s ridiculous.
