goten is so unhomophobic that he goes full circle into the closet. hes definitely a "i dont care if i do things that seem gay to other people, im confident in my heterosexuality" person except he is, in fact, TOO confident in his heterosexuality, considering hes not actually heterosexual
like he will genuinely be like "most straight men dont want to be physically affectionate with their male friends out of fear of being seen as gay but im confident in my heterosexuality and i dont care about that!" after literally making out with trunks & trunks is just like "goten will make out w me but he wont ever return my feelings bc hes straight 😔" because he trusts gotens line of thinking more than he logically should, everything considered
cuz one day trunks is like "hey why do we kiss each other so much ..?" and goten is like "idk its just fun and ur my friend :)" and trunks is like “ok yeah thats kinda solid” and that same level of honest & inarticulate love and trust that prevents them from acknowledging each others feelings and getting together sooner is also what makes their relationship work so well once they do get together
