Diana is an original character introduced in Chapter 5. Casey meets her by chance, and the women hit it off instantly, becoming fast friends.

Name: Diana Ellington-Rourke

Hometown: She was born and raised in Georgia, but her family moved to Maryland when she was in High School. She attended college in Washington, DC, and moved to Los Angeles after graduation. Her current residence is in Aspen, Colorado, but she isn't there frequently as she travels often. She has a temporary residence in Boston.

Age: 39 at introduction

Sexual Orientation: Pansexual

Relationship status: Married

Occupation: Artist and business owner.

Faceclaim: Gina Torres

Personality traits: She is effervescent and outgoing, warm and easily makes friends, free-spirited, and has a sophisticated style and appearance but a very down-to-earth personality. She has a good heart and is very self-aware. She is very creative and successful. She is optimistic and always tries to see the best in people. Tries to do the right thing, but is aware of her own humanity.

Other things:

Diana is the daughter of Miles Ellington, a paralegal, and Mindy Kaur, a legal secretary. They hoped she would attend law school, but she had her own ideas.

Milton is black, and Mindy is white, and as a child/woman of mixed race, Diana has struggled to understand where she belongs at times.

She had an older sister, but she died due to a childhood illness before Diana's birth, so Diana grew up as an only child.

She is close with her parents, but doesn't see them as often as she'd like.

She is married to Jonathan Rourke, a well-known and extremely successful Hollywood producer who is fourteen years her senior. They met when she was in her early twenties, and she says it was love at first sight. Her family vehemently disapproved of the relationship because of their age and socio-economic differences, but Diana knew he was her person, and they married shortly thereafter.

As a result of her marriage and her own success, she is extremely wealthy but maintains a down-to-earth lifestyle... at least down-to-earth for someone with her net worth. (Her husband, however, lives very differently.)

She travels frequently, usually between LA, NY, Boston, and her home state of Colorado, but other places, as well.

She and Jonathan are child-free by choice. They absolutely adore one another, but their careers keep them apart more often than not.

In addition to art, she is an avid reader and loves to cook and entertain.

Meet Addie Larkin

Addie is a longtime friend of Tobias, who is introduced in Chapter 2. While they've known each other for nearly a decade and cherish their friendship, they know very little about each other's personal lives. For example, Addie had a partner this whole time, but Tobias only met them once in passing. While their friendship is not deep, it's still very important to them.

Name: Addie Larkin

Hometown: She grew up in Boston. A bit of a nomad, she moves frequently but stays nearby. She has lived in Jamaica Plain, South Boston, and Alston neighborhoods of Boston, as well as Brookline and Somerville in recent years.

Age: 35 years old at start of story.

Sexual Orientation: She doesn't like labels, but if forced to identify, she'd say she's pansexual.

Relationship status: She has a long-term partner, but little is known about them.

Occupation: An artist at heart but a business owner by trade. She owns a store in Cambridge that specializes in Boho-style clothing and arts, as well as metaphysical products. She manages a successful business but is not as capable of managing her personal finances.

Faceclaim: Bree Larson

Personality traits: Artistic, creative, strong-willed, practical, ethical, genuine, assertive, confident, devoutly loyal to those she loves, open-minded, non-conforming, aloof at times, blunt, friendly if she likes you, can appear cold, detests organized/traditional religion, but is spiritual, can be forgiving, or very non-forgiving dependent on the person involved.

Other information: Addie is 100% Boston Irish but is estranged from most of her family. She left home for New York to attend art school at 18, and her conservative family did not approve of her lifestyle choices. When she refused to bend to their demands at the end of her sophomore year, they cut her off financially. She stayed in New York for six months but returned to Boston, where she had a network of friends soon after. She loves Boston and her life there. A non-conformist, she started her own business because traditional ventures, schedules, and lifestyles never worked for her. After years of trying to find her niche, she started a small business selling boho-style clothing she made. It eventually grew into a thriving lifestyle/metaphysical store in Cambridge.

Some backstory: She and Tobias met at a bar on his third night in Boston. They got along instantly, and she showed him around his new hometown and introduced him to people who were not involved in the medical world. He provided medical care for her during a period of time when she did not have adequate health coverage, and after that, a deeper bond was formed.

They consider each other close friends, but they know remarkably little about each other's personal lives. For example, Tobias knows she has a partner this whole time, but he's only met them once or twice in passing. Tobias has shared many stories about his conquests with her, but she couldn't tell you a name or face associated with them. Still, when she learns he has an official girlfriend, she's eager to meet her. And while not seeking approval, Tobias hopes they'll get along.

Many assume Tobias and Addie had something more than friendship at some point in the past. But the only two who know the answer to that are Tobias and Addie, and they prefer to leave people guessing.

Meet Caseys Mono~Poly Mom: Rose D'Allesandro

Those who read my Tobias x Casey HC may be familiar with Casey's parents, Rose and David. Please note that their characters and their history will be quite different here.

Name: Rose Angelica D'Alessandro

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA

Age: 57 upon her introduction in Chapter 5

Sexual Orientation: Straight

Relationship Status: Single but in a long-term relationship

Occupation: Writer, Editor

Faceclaim: Diane Lane

Personality traits: Kind, loyal, devoted mother. Driven, strong-willed, determined. Open-minded, welcoming. Independent, creative.

Other facts:

Rose was raised in a strict, traditional Italian-American Roman Catholic family. While she identifies with the close-knit bonds and loyalty of her family, she doesn't always agree with their values.

She dated a famous rockstar in her late teens/early 20s (to her family's chagrin).

At 25, she eloped and married Casey's father, David. Her family did not approve of David because he wasn't Catholic, and the elopement put a strain on their relationship. But when Rose became pregnant with Casey, they made amends.

She was a homemaker when Casey was young but began working odd jobs when she and David separated when Casey was still a child. It was Casey who encouraged her mother to return to pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. While Rose had moderate success there, she ended up with a lucrative position as an editor with a major publishing company.

After a difficult divorce, she vowed never to marry again, and at 57, she seems to be keeping true to that. She has a long-term partner but no plans on marrying.

She is very close with Casey, though sometimes they clash. Casey is resentful over how the divorce and aftermath impacted her as a child, but she and her mother worked that out.

Rose is open-minded now, but sometimes, it takes her time to warm up. When Casey told her she was bisexual during her college years, Rose needed a short time to understand/adjust, but once she did, she became one of her daughter's strongest advocates.

Rose remains in Philadelphia but makes frequent trips to Boston to see Casey, and Casey also visits home often.

She is a phenomenal cook and enjoys theater and photography.

While Rose is still in touch with her family, Casey has cut most of them off due to their opposing beliefs.

Meet Mono~Poly's Jordan Carrick

Those who read my Tobias x Casey fics may be familiar with a few fics that included his brother, Jordan. You can find some information about his character in my HC here. There will not be much character deviation from him in this series, though Jordan went through a brief prick period in HC, that won't be happening here.

He won't be a frequent character in this series, but he will appear at Tobias and Casey's wedding in chapter five and will pop up again in the future.

Name: Jordan Carrick

Hometown: Born and raised in Washington, DC. He is a photographer who usually doesn't settle in one place for very long these days, even though he calls New York City home.

Age: He is 31 at the start of this series and 34 at the time of his introduction to the story in Chapter 5.

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

Relationship Status: Happily, happily single

Occupation: Successful, Award-Winning Photographer

Faceclaim: Rege-Jean Page

Personality traits: Charming, flirtatious, friendly, and warm. He doesn't see his family very often, but he loves them deeply and is very loyal to them. He's a free spirit who enjoys living life to its fullest.

Other facts:

He's Tobias's only brother and 7 years his junior.

Like his brother (before Casey), Jordan is a confirmed bachelor and has no desire to settle down.

In this series, he and his brother always had a close relationship despite their age difference.

He's immensely grateful to Tobias for getting married because he believes this will get his mother off of his back to do the same.

He gets along very well with Casey, though when Tobias first introduced her as his "girlfriend," Jordan gave it 8 weeks. In his toast at the wedding reception, he says he's glad he got it wrong.

Peter is Casey's cousin, introduced in Chapter 5. He will make further appearances in the series. Peter & Casey were both only children who grew up near each other in Philadelphia. Despite her parent's nasty divorce, Peter's parents remained close with Casey's mother, Rose, and the children grew up closer than most siblings.

Name: Peter MacTavish

Hometown: Philadelphia, PA, though he spent summers with his family in Lancaster.

Age: 36 at introduction in chapter 5

Sexual Orientation: Straight

Relationship status: Married.

Occupation: Carpenter, owns a custom furniture business.

Faceclaim: Chris Hemsworth

Personality traits: Easy-going, laid back. The kind of guy you want to grab a beer with. Progressive & open-minded. Extremely loyal. Friendly, hardworking, and makes friends easily. He is extremely protective of Casey, but not in a toxic way.

Other info:

Peter & Casey are closer than most siblings. She talks to him at least once a week and visits as much as she can.

He is married to his high school sweetheart, Ivy. They broke up after school but reunited years later. They have one daughter, Ashley, who is Casey's godchild.

He has a relationship with Casey's father (Peter's uncle), but he's not fond of the man. He prefers Casey's mother, Rose, and he is still very close with her.

He likes Tobias, but their relationship takes complicated turns.

He is one person Casey knows she can always count on.

Meet Caseys Mono~Poly Dad: David MacTavish

Those who read my Tobias x Casey HC may be familiar with Casey's parents, Rose and David. Please note that their characters and their history will be quite different here.

Name: David MacTavish

Hometown: Born in Lancaster, PA moved to Philadelphia

Age: 65 upon his introduction in Chapter 5

Sexual Orientation: Straight

Relationship Status: Single

Occupation: Business owner (Food industry)

Faceclaim: Ted Danson

Personality traits: Can be charming; friendly to those he doesn't know well, but his relationships with those in his inner circle are strained; can be emotionally distant; independent; resourceful; can be hypocritical; impulsive; can be narrow-minded. Traditional values, but doesn't live up to them.

Other facts:

David isn't all bad, but he isn't all good, either.

He was raised in a rural Lancaster family where his family owned a farm, but he moved to Philadelphia to live with an uncle and attend a better high school when he was a teen.

When his father died, he used part of his inheritance to open a gourmet food store in Philadelphia. In time, he expanded to other locations and sold some products through distribution.

He met Rose when she worked part-time at his store in Philadelphia. They had a passionate love, but her family did not approve because he wasn't Catholic. They eloped shortly thereafter.

He and Rose (Casey's Mom) had a short and tumultuous marriage. He was frequently unfaithful, and when Rose finally had enough, she left and filed for divorce. David didn't believe in divorce, so he contested it (and lost).

Their post-divorce period was more tumultuous than the marriage, and it was a long time before they could interact well - often due to David's actions - and Casey suffered terribly as a result. The effects still linger today.

David has had a string of other relationships since then; he also married once again but divorced two years later.

His relationship with Casey was always tumultuous, but it really became strained when she came out as bisexual in college. He was very toxic and threatened to stop paying her tuition until she reminded him the divorce decree said he had no choice. She never even told him she applied to med school and talked to him infrequently after that.

He does love Casey - and he loved Rose too - as much as he could love anyone. He's a very psychologically damaged man, but he refused to seek help, and it cost him his family.

He and Casey made tentative peace, and while she's not sure what the future holds, she hopes they'll be able to have some sort of a relationship.

Meet Mono~Poly's Vivian Carrick

Those who read my Tobias x Casey fics are already familiar with the formidable Vivian Carrick, and I've already posted character information here and here. There will not be much (if any) character deviation from her in this series, though there will be subtle differences. Here is an overview of my beloved Vivian.

Name: Vivian Jonson Carrick

Hometown: Born and raised in Washington, DC, where she still resides today.

Age: Vivian is in her mid 60's in this series

Sexual Orientation: Straight

Relationship Status: Widowed, although she's had a few relationships since her husband's death.

Occupation: Vivian is an artist and a curator. She is also a philanthropist and runs a non-profit that she started with her late husband.

Faceclaim: Alfre Woodard

Personality traits: Strong, outspoken, creative, not easily intimidated, smart, clever, fiercely loyal to those she loves, humorous, intimidating, loves her children, can be meddlesome, altruistic, larger than life, witty, charming (when she wants to be), never to be underestimated.

More information:

Vivian is largely the same charater she is in my headcanon and in other Tobias x Casey AUs. This one may focus a little more on her career as an artist, and she might be a little more ferocious here (just a little!) She makes her series debut in Chapter 3 and will make recurring appearances throughout the series.

I almost didn't create a profile for Halle, as she has a limited role in Chapter 3, but who knows, you may see her further down the line, so a brief introduction is in order.

Occupation: Real Estate Agent

Personality Traits: Smart, assertive, driven. Knows what she wants and will do her best to get it. Flirtatious and friendly, if she likes you. Rather cold if she doesn't.
