German camera manufacturer, Leica, has launched a new camera retailing at over $7,000. What's the catch? The Leica M-Monochrom shoots only in black and white. To launch this new camera and its unique limitation, they created a captivating and abstract black and white video that asks viewers to "Free yourself from colors."

The voiceover invites us to think of color as the enemy because it leaves no room for imagination:

"In the colored world, there is no space for dreams. Or revery. The colors order. The eyes obey. A serious and predictable cell with silver bars. Imagination's death row."

Not only is this a compelling ad for a rather expensive black and white camera, but it gets me thinking about the best way to stand out in our over-saturated world. Perhaps less really is more.

All this week is from July 2013. - Walking in Shanghai was one of the things I enjoyed most about living in city. Seriously, if I had the time, I preferred to walk. Waiting at a crosswalk was often a prime opportunity for creating a nice image.
