Waterfalls were for years my second home, and I know that feeling well, the heart accelerating as if to keep time with the shiver of the saturated earth. I don't know when my climate shifted and began to dry out but now I seem to view waterfalls as lovers gone; wistful, I feel, and with the faded intensity of passions held and dear but long past. For me it's the deserts, now, perhaps because they give the illusion of having no memory, dormant as they seem under storm and star... When in reality the sands note all that has passed in their erosion and in their manner of shifting about ceaselessly, stories in ripples and dunes, silica hieroglyphics drawn under the eyes of el niño and his sisters. Formless memory, where past and future blend seamlessly in iron and glass and endless horizons, where the weight of a solar cycle can bury or lift a soul given the whim of season and stir; the deserts are the end result of water's generosity: minerals and all else carried to the drying delta deposit, tomorrow's canyon walls towering above their viewers, the unknown future's successors seeking, as we do, answers in the past. Perhaps there'll be better clues, then, in the silt and petrified shale, available for better minds to parse and take down, something to be put away yet again for the next generation, what will grow legs and arise from another ocean, stepping onto another vast expanse, surprised as they will be at evaporation's quickening and its chill. #withmytamron #SP70200VC #visitutah #weRutah #utahgraphy #beautahful #jj_utah #jj_blackwhite #brbw #princely_bw #ptk_bnw #monochromevisions #desertography #setaphoreimaging #endlessruminations #nikond610 #manfrotto #cx190pro4 #pixelsfoto #monumentvalley
