“Elegant Chaos, Inelegant Solutions” Preview
For this year’s TF Reverse Bang event hosted by @tf-bigbang, @ihatebrainstorm and I teamed up to bring you a little canon rewrite/POV mashup centered around our favorite chaotic nerdy duo.
It was an honor to work with an artist of Dig’s caliber. Go check out her full preview here, and keep an eye out for our full pieces, which will be posted sometime July 17th-21st.
Until then…
Don’t touch the briefcase >;)
Did I mention how much I love these three nerds? xD
Perceptor, what have you done? (A meme-turned-analysis)
I’ve seen quite a few people talking about how Tailgate and Rung started the Great War because of a curly straw, but I haven’t yet seen anyone talking about how Perceptor the Perfect and his tampering are to blame for the activation of the multiverse (including our favorite hellhole: The Functionist Universe).
Moral of the story: You may be small. You may be easily forgotten. You may even be smart. But by no means are you EVER immune to making universe-altering mistakes:
[Watch your elbows, Rung. You might just start a war if you’re not care— Never mind. Too late.]
[Perceptor isn’t afraid to admit when he’s made a mistake. Be like Perceptor.]
Of course, the fact that Brainstorm created the time machine in the first place was a huge factor that helped set in motion the future events of Lost Light, but it looks like Perceptor was the one whose actions directly resulted in the most significant unintended consequences.
However!
Perceptor’s tampering wasn’t without benefits. If he hadn’t tried removing the paradox locks, all those universes would never have been made possible. And without those parallel universes, he and Brainstorm (and Nautica) would never have been able to do their thing and send a duplicate Lost Light on further adventures in a separate universe at the end of Lost Light #25:
[Risky plans with little chance of working—a Rodimus favorite and a Perceptor nightmare.]
So yes, many of the terrible things that happened in Lost Light can, in some way, be traced back to Brainstorm and Perceptor—the Functionist Universe, the Adaptus fiasco, etc. But sending a copy of the Lost Light and its crew to another universe to continue their adventures wouldn’t have been possible either without Percy’s curious meddling back in MTMTE #37.
The Lab-Partners-of-the-Year award goes to Brainstorm and Perceptor. They literally created the multiverse. By accident.
I’m aware that, technically, every action taken by countless individuals over the course of Cybertron’s history played some part in the grand scheme of things that led to those events. I just think it’s funny and awesome that this brilliant, unassuming, but formidable scientist-sniper unintentionally played such a crucial role in the creation of the multiverse, making all 25 issues of Lost Light possible:
Thank you, Percy. You’re amazing and imperfect and I love you.
Brainstorm: Percy doesn’t need to be a sniper to be intimidating. His mind is intimidating enough.
Brainstorm: …
Brainstorm: But being a sniper sure does help.

Cyberverse Appreciation Week
Day 1: Favorite Character(s)
@transformerscyberverse
Perceptor, when he has an argument with anyone:
“Here is a list of ways you and I contributed to the conflict separately, and my proposal for a solution. Before you respond emotionally, please look over this and consider my points carefully.
When you are finished, respond via written word with your input and/or suggestions, and we will reconvene so that we can reach a satisfactory solution with as little excess emotionality as possible.”
I’ve had this floating around in my head for a few days now. We all know Perceptor prioritizes perfect punctuation and syntax when texting and Brainstorm doesn’t. lol
