a hydreigon. the only pokemon n might find himself flinching at the sight of, if only for a moment.

if there’s anyone who can tell pokemon of the same species apart, though, it’s him— and it takes no longer than a second for it to settle in that the voice he hears from this hydreigon is nothing like ghetsis’s. (nowhere near as hateful. this pokemon has someone that it loves.)

he approaches with caution nonetheless. it seems to be alone... or perhaps he just can’t see the human it’s with. it wouldn’t be the first time a pokemon had wandered off to say hello to him, nor the first time a human had sent their pokemon his way— testing him, seeing if what they’d just seen was true, that he really was talking to them. it could be either, he can still hear the fleeing footsteps of the vulpix he’d been conversing with before the dragon-type’s sudden appearance scared it off.

“... hello.” a head tilt, glancing around— “were you looking for me...? where’s your trainer?”

Though Emile has ‘friends’ in Rocket, the singular person he’s closest to is probably Mikhail (@monozuu​) who he views as a little brother.

Lysandre is deep in thought, flipping a stylus between his fingers- this item goes here, that number goes in this column -  he double-checks his notes, edits--- it’s utterly pedantic work that he hasn’t done by himself since he was in college. Sure, it’s fine to get in touch with these skills again, but in the past, he had people for this kind of thing. He had people for every kind of thing. 

He was an idea person. An innovator. He came up with the ideas and worked towards making them real with his team of elite, trusted researchers--- he didn’t sit on his ass and write up expense reports. But here he was, cursing under his breath. 

He had no time for visitors. No patience, either. 

He glowers up through his visor, suddenly just a little more alert.

“I can see you, so you may as well stop sneaking around.”

  The port of Vermilion City was a place Captain Eldridge loathed to moor at. If it weren’t for the direct route to Saffron City and the convenience of the maglev train that goes straight to the heart of Johto, he’d never set foot in this seaside settlement.

  Or Kanto as a whole, for that matter. Between the information he’s collected about the history of the region, the insignificant amount of research to be had beyond a potential conversation with the famous Professor Oak, and all the Rocket business... he’d sooner go back to Hoenn. Unfortunately, the maglev was four times faster than his ship could sail from Vermilion to Olivine. Coming to port here was a necessary evil in order to research Johto mythologies.

  The captain fastened the heavy chains around the mooring anchors of the pier, keeping them in place with locks as an extra precaution against potential theft. He could hear footsteps coming down the stone port towards his vessel, though with the sailors around here being the pompous types, he made the decision to ignore it.

Lyra might have given up the the whole mythical hero stick, but that doesn’t mean she can’t find time for a little vigilante justice.

    Let’s set the scene. Her favourite market in Goldenrod is based in a huge warehouse close to the sea. It’s her favourite because it caters almost exclusively to trainers. Including stalls that sell those rarer, harder to find berries that her team munches down like they’re cereal. They’re just better for them than potions, okay.

   But not all species of pokémon are satiated with just berries. Plenty of trainers work with pokémon that need a little extra protein in their diet. And beef and chicken isn’t enough for some monsters.

   Now there’s at least five live slowpoke tail vendors at this market that she doesn’t take that much of an issue with, Sure, she hates seeing them farmed but she’d much rather they’re well looked after if they are going to be subjected to it.

   But a new stall’s popped up, and this stall is most certainly not looking after it’s slowpoke. She’s seen them pacing around their pen, agitated, big red rings at the base of their tails—the kind of irritation no doubt caused by removing their tails before they’re fully grown back in.

Lyra K. Kuno was not going to let a pokémon live like that.

   Smash-cut to the warehouse, early in the morning. Plum’s taken out the security guards with a little hypnotism, Coconut Cream’s has teleported Lyra and himself in. They’re all cloaked in spooky, gengar-induced shadow and are sneaking towards the offending slowpoke pen. Ready to grab their targets and teleport out at a moments notice.

   Or they would have been, if they hadn’t have spotted another trespasser, already helping themselves to the aforementioned ‘pokes.

“Oh, come on—” she exclaimed before she could stop herself. Plum and C.C. stared at her in horror as she clapped her hands over her mouth, Okay, this was bad. So bad, there was no way that the other trespasser didn’t hear her. But the key to making the best out of a bad situation was not to let your nerves get the better of you! Which is why she’s going to stand stock still and just watch how this dude reacts. Genius!
