An update:
CARNUEL FIRE LATEST: Started yesterday around 4pm, driven by heavy canyon winds. Crews say 2 structures have been impacted, and the fire is currently 24 acres. Both directions on I-40 are back open. Eastbound 66 at the Carnuel junction is still closed.
God Bless the US Forestry Service, Bernalillo County Fire fighters, Albuquerque Fire Fighters who worked through the night to try to contain this, saving homes, people, pets, and live stock. Also, around noon our official “monsoon” season started, so I’ve had flickering power but heavy rains and thunderstorms so, heaven willing, we’re safe. Thank you for everyone who kept me company and thought about me and mine last night while I kept vigil. <3
