The first among many entries I’ll be sharing, mostly because I’ve been writing these for a good while now. Super happy with how they’re turning out! Massive kudos to my bro and TK headmaster for their invaluable assistance / resources!

The next build is currently going through bug testing, but until then, here’s some art of the common enemy, the Nure Onago. 

These monsters come in three different varieties (two in the AH Demo): Standard, Salt Water, and Moldy.

A standard Nure Onago is born in rivers, wetlands, and lakes. They don’t require solid food to live; only water. While very friendly and cute, they have an unbearable scent reminiscent of a deep bog. On dark and rainy nights, human travelers may mistake a Nure Onago for a lost and soaked girl and offer them help. Because of the Nure Onago’s nature, they will immediately become forever attached to that human, watching them from a distance always, but their stench eternally following the human.

A Salty Nure Onago is the same as a standard Nure Onago, with some key differences. They are born in tide pools and underneath docks and strongly smell of rotting fish. While they drink the sea water near them, they additionally consume any fish that gets caught in their mouths. If they eat any poisonous fish, the slime making up their bodies will too become poisonous. Their fish diet also gives them their bright colors.

A Moldy Nure Onago is also very similar to the standard Nure Onago. Like the Salty Nure Onago, the moldy variety is poisonous because of the mold. They are born in abandoned human buildings where the water hasn’t been turned off yet. The mold and rust that coat the bathroom are absorbed into their body and give them distinct coloration. Being around a Moldy Nure Onago for too long can lead to health complications in humans. 

While being unwelcome around humans, Nure Onago commonly seen spending time among a variety of other waterside monsters... as long as they’re wearing magical perfume.

Habits: (smoking, drinking etc.) Tends to spoil people she cares for, shopping

Health: Very healthy

Hobbies: shopping, playing the piano, planning parties and events, going on dates with her girlfriend

Speech patterns: Sing-songy

Style (Elegant, shabby etc.): Elegant and regal

Greatest flaw: Expensive taste

Best quality: Overabundance of love

Spent most of her childhood in boarding schools, rarely around the hive. So when she was at home in the hive she relished every moment she got with with the colony there. The hive is what is most important and first in her mind. While boarding school was often a pain, she found joy in music and making friends. She learned a hard truth of people using her when she was young and vowed to only put her efforts into her colony and hive. She knew eventually she would have to take on a mate but she was still too hurt to try. It wasn’t until she met Beatrice she began to desire a mate. She enjoys being among her colony and is excited to start a family with Beatrice.

Hiro grew up in Hokkaido, Japan. The eldest of four siblings, Hiro grew up to be close to his maternal Grandmother who taught him the art of tea as well as calligraphy, two skills he stills practices today. Hiro was often tormented by his younger sisters, causing him to be somewhat nervous around other women. He moved to America to take care of his little brother who wanted to study abroad. He decided to stay after his brother was done with college and he enjoyed a career as a translator and eventually took on a job as a librarian. He met Lorelei at a local book store/coffee shop that he family owns and operates. Too shy to speak to her she broke the ice between them. He loves Lorelei’s strength and liveliness and plans on marrying her as soon as possible.

Habits: (smoking, drinking etc.) eat anything he can get his hands on

Health: due to a previous injury, his left side is always tender

Hobbies: hunting, playing video games, having sex

Speech patterns: rough around the edges, lots of laughing, cusses often

Greatest flaw: Arrogant

Enjoying a solitary life, he’s traveled all over the world, hunting and enjoying himself. He finds a town in Maine and sees Rosa, it’s love at first sight. He stalks the town and soon rumors spread of a monster. After getting into a fight with another shark man he goes into Rosa’s boat to escape. After their initial meeting he mates with her and the two become a couple. He becomes devoted to her, falling deeper in love every day. Willing to do anything for Rosa, he starts working with her and helping her harvest pearls. They two decide to buy a boat so they can sail around the world and so he can introduce her to his family.

Distinguishing features: just an amorphous pile of slime in an outdated containment suit

Mannerisms: rigid and precise, very proper

Habits: (smoking, drinking etc.) raps his fingers, plays his music too loud

Health: normal

Hobbies: reading, studying, researching, practicing his aim, driving

Favorite Sayings: “Work smarter,not harder”

Speech patterns: Sometimes stiff and often too proper

Disabilities: as slime, in order to perform daily activities for his job he has to wear the containment suit or he risks severe harm to himself and those around him

Style (Elegant, shabby etc.): Minimalist

Greatest flaw: Works too hard, sometimes forgets important things

Best quality: Attentive and a good listener

He left his blue slime hive when he was young, wanting to gain an education and get away from the hive,not enjoying the hive-mind mentality of his family. After graduating at the top of his class he decided to go to police academy. He failed his first go but after being given a containment suit to help him he graduated the next year at the top of his class. It took him a long time to find a job though,going from New York to Atlanta where he started to rise in the ranks. He then got transferred to Athens where he was partnered with human Tara Diaz. The two had a hard start but eventually they learned to work together. After awhile the two fell in love, which was a first for Sebastian since slimes usually never experience it. He realizes what he really wanted outside the slime hive was experiencing life, not just furthering his education and he feels that Tara is the greatest experience he’ll ever have.

Greatest flaw: Evil demon

Best quality: Devoted and protective

A powerful demon in hell, although he has become quite complacent and lazy these days. After a rather tiring war between heaven and hell he sequestered himself and fell asleep for a few centuries. Upon waking, he found the portal to his nest had been built upon and now opened up into a small apartment. After a few decades possessing and tormenting the occupants of the apartment Ariel moved in. Impressed by Ariel and her ability to ignore him he soon began to grow feelings for her. After the two mated and bonded they had a son, half demon Eli. Eligos is able to change shape to be able to enjoy the simple things with his family, but he and Ariel both enjoy his regular form much better.
