Had a dream that I was sketching designs for Hailey's Eclipse form whrn her curse gets really bad, going beyond a "normal" werewolf and into some kind of vaguely lupine eldritch horror monster. The one that most stood out was this nuckelave-esque form with a humanoid upper body sprouting from a wolf's back like rider and mount grotesquely fused together. She appeared to be wearing regal armor and carrying a lance, but those too were fused to her body. But what made it really weird was that in the dream I didn't actually like that design, the very concept scared and disgusted me, but I couldn't stop drawing it.

Got in the mood to draw a little freak so uh, Wither beast sort of Eclipse thing. Cleaned the sketch and just used that for the lining, lotta limb gradients, used a bunch of effects to get the textures. Inspiration from the Wither Storm especially for all the tendrils. Wide eyes and wide mouth, four arms and two hind legs except it can go quadruped.

I imagine it can consume Negative Star Power from beings who have a heavy excess in their body. No one in particular in mind tho. :]

Big mutated (FEV?) heron

Come on now! I’m itching for more monster birds in fallout, I want a really big heron, perhaps Mildly messed up, or maybe a giant cormorant would be cool.

Ive been working on this horror story recently and im struggling with something

Im not going to get into the story since it’s not fully done yet but what I will say is that there is a lot of different monsters in this story.

I have a vast majority of these monsters planned out but most of these monsters have pretty simple designs.

I know simplicity can be a good thing sometimes and some of these monsters work well with the simpler designs in my opinion. But for a horror story, these monsters just either aren’t scary, don’t feel very unique, or both.

For example: here's a design for the first monster in the story

It is a simple werewolf. It's not really scary for the reader to look at and it's just your typical werewolf. Nothing special to differentiate it from any other werewolf in media.

How would one edit a simple monster design to make it look scarier and more unique?

Meet Klowdee! Klowdee is a cute little cloud critter. Despite his phenomenal lightning powers, he prefers not to hurt people and is overall a sweet, sensitive guy who just wants to help. He cries a lot and needs to drink water to replenish himself. He gets bigger and greyer the more he drinks, just like a real cloud. Despite his crybaby nature, Klowdee displays a lot of mental fortitude.
