He's got the dog on a leash, which in reality means chained to the wall with just enough length for him to be able to sit on the floor, by the counter. The button that controls the shock collar tucked safely away in his pants pocket. As long as he was tethered Rus didn't have to worry about where he might try to sneak off to, or get into, while he wasn't looking. Which, in this case, also made it easier for him to focus on his cooking instead of watching him.
Anna had agreed on something with a bit of irony in it tonight. So Rus was making bacon burgers and seasoned french fries for the two of them. A bowl of water and the soup they kept made for Bucky already dished out and set on the floor just barely close enough for him to reach.
Their toy didn't get the same food as the after all. He wasn't allowed to have table food, or even the scraps from the table food. It was more then he deserved. Instead he was fed a steady meal of beef broth, onions, and just enough potatoes for him to occasionally get some. It's not nearly enough to give his body what he needs, but it's enough to keep him alive.
After he gets done cutting up the fries the way she likes them, Rus takes a break long enough to put the lid back on the pot and stick what remains of the soup in the fridge. Giving the bacon sizzling in the pan his attention long enough to flip each piece before going back to work on the fries.
Oh, Ana, my beloved sister. Did I ever tell you all the wonderful things our dog has to say about you? because according to him you belong on a street corner, or in a back alley. It seems to be more of "your thing."
And where, exactly, do you think you're going?
