So after a year and a half and countless hours, I am FINALLY done with the largest sculpture I’ve ever done, and I am excited about the way he turned out. I will have more images for you guys later today/tomorrow, but for now, have this video. This is my interpretation of the Black Rabbit of Inlé, from Watership Down. The base is Monster Clay Medium over masonite, and both rabbits are Monster Clay Firm over a wire and mesh armature. Tomorrow my friend and fellow sculptor and Festival of Arts exhibitor @nikitayoungart and I will be taking this piece up to my favorite foundry in Burbank to start the bronze casting process. Success! I let the heated silicone mold (of the head and neck of my dragon bust) full of melted cx5s sit in my pressure pot for about 7 hours just to be safe, and got a good cast out of the mold. Because I heated the mold and kept everything under pressure, I got zero shrinkage, which is great. Now I can take this cast and clean up the areas I need to and break it down a little more. Also, bonus shot of a removable jackrabbit skull on cord I am working on for my Black Rabbit. The plan is to make it a pendant that is wearable by the Black Rabbit, or the owner of the piece. #sculpture #dragon #blackrabbit #moldmakingandcasting #monsterclayhard #cx5s

Black Rabbit of Inlé WIP update! I'm still working on detail and correcting some anatomical stuff, but he's coming along. Trying to get this guy finished ASAP to get him up to the foundry so I'll have a bronze ready for this summer in Laguna!
