I hate the phrase "it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem" when referring to suicide. What if life is the problem to begin with? Is life the temporary problem? Should we just continue to be miserable for the next 50-60 years because "oh well, i'm going to die anyway, might as well wait for it"?
It is such a vague statement and makes no plausible point other than for one person to sound poetic toward another person who has probably already written dozens of poems about why they should kill themselves.
