Land transport in Congo will always require you to cross rivers. Maybe there are no bridges, or they collapsed. During our previous #monthtrip we crossed by canoe over 10rivers and 4 times Congo River itself. They’re very risky crossing : heavily loaded and without life jacket. On 👆🏼 photo, We were From Kabalo to Kongolo. In this canoe were three motos, and 7 passengers (three moto drivers, 2 crew member, our tourist and his guide). This was a heavy load until they didn’t believe themselves that we will make it. Since the Congo River water is always moving, the crossing is not made following a direct line. They make strong physical calculations to weaken the impact of flow of water on the canoe and for them to stop at the exact point they want. It gives sometimes much worries mainly when it’s meeting waves (though small) and see water getting in (as you can see on the picture, the canoe is almost totally immersed in water). However, thanks to these prominent crew member, this experience become less risky and enjoyable.
