AS SHE FUCKING SHOULD
[continued from here] @monxrched
“For your sake it better be” Michael examines the blood-drenched room in silence as well as the overwhelming sound of moaning and skin hitting skin. The metallic stench filled the air as well as the musty scent of the tunnels they were in. He never got this, in all honesty. Sure he liked sex as much as the next guy but this? It was messy, it was loud, and it was a little predictable in all honesty.
But, these people had successfully brought him into the world again (after his minor setback with the covens) and he wasn’t one to ruin a party. So, instead, he stood away from the ‘festivities’, near the leader of the Heretics. “Remind me why you live in this– shithole again?” He glances down to her, blonde, blood-drenched locks of hair swaying delicately with his movements.
It was clear from the start that Val was in charge of the community, though she was slathered in mud just like the rest of them. While the rest of the cultists were animalistic in their reactions and behaviors, the blonde had a certain poise about her. She wasn’t without her urges, no, but… She was able to control them, for the sake of the first impression she was trying to make. She was a leader first, a creature with needs second. When she responded to him, it was with confidence in her voice. She was unafraid.
“This world isn’t ready for your coming. Society couldn’t understand our work- If we’d stayed with them, confined by their rules and morals, this never would have succeeded. You are here because we chose you over material comforts.”

“ you haven’t even seen my bad side yet. ”
“YOU mean to tell me this is your GOOD side?”
The realization ALONE was horrific. No one really had a good side in NIGHT CITY, but everyone had a different approach. Some people could handle faking being nice, but as far as he KNEW he’d never really caught a glimpse of ANY particular kindness from her ( AT LEAST not directed toward him or anyone he knew ). Arms cross over his chest as he leans his back against the HOOD OF HIS CAR, furrowing his brow at her.
THERE WASN’T MUCH to be said about their interactions, IRONICALLY enough Vera tended to mesh better with people who were more NATIVELY from Night City. THE STREET PEOPLE. He’d resolved that he’d always feel out of place given that he was NOMAD, one could try as they might they’d never be able to SEVER their roots entirely.
“God well WHOEVER that’s gonna be direct at I feel REAL fuckin’ bad for cuz I’m sure that’s gonna look like a damn SHIT STORM.”
Eyes roll behind tinted glasses as he presses up against the hood before shaking his head. He needed to make a QUICK pitstop ( he’d been made DD by the whole ordeal given that he LIKED driving anyway ) but since their pause she seemed to SOUR in mood.
“Just whatever the fuck you do, don’t you turn that shit on me or I’ll fuckin’ LEAVE your ass here, ASK my fuckin’ sister, SCHOOL bus rules apply when ‘ol Vance is the driver. NO fuckin’ with the driver. Last time Vera got testy with me I DITCHED in the middle of Heywood.”

“ i am someone who did not die when they should of. ”
He never understood the BOLDNESS people had with what they said. Most people were close to their chest about things, and when she speaks, those words are PERPLEXING to him. Those belonged in the ears of a CONFIDANT ( i.e. not him––HE BARELY KNEW HER ). In the aftermath of Jackie’s DEATH and how destroyed his sister was APPARENTLY they’d met but he’s hardly one to dredge that back up.
HE DIDN’T REMEMBER HER.
Normally that would be chalked up to some COY excuse about her not being memorable, but that’s a lie. HE WAS hardly entirely there himself, so if they’d met it would’ve really been IN PASSING. He leans back, a drag of his cigarette taken as he blows out the smoke into the open air and leans back on his palm.
He’s not even sure how to respond, THE BASELINE with people in night city ( especially solos who had to work together ) was that you kept your mouth shut and MAYBE you wouldn’t be viciously extorted for everything you were worth. She seems troubled, but there wasn’t exactly a great deal of CONTEXT for him to work with so instead he takes another drag trying to piece together what might work best to say.
“...ain’t that just life.”
It’s not exactly COMFORTING, but really the historical events showed he really wasn’t good at comforting the VAST majority of people. Especially not as an outsider looking in.
@monxrched said: ‘ why do you hate me? ’ (from Vaessa)
Looking over his shoulder at Vaessa, Sebastián scoffs in over-dramatized disbelief. “You know better than anyone that that’s not true, chica. If I hated you, I wouldn’t put up with your shit.” He winks before returning his attention back to the datapad in his hands. “Give me five more minutes to finish up this order then we’ll go, yeah?”
@monxrched said: “Do you want to talk about it?” (from Rogue)
“What else is there to talk about, Mama? He’s dead.” His voice sounds hollow even in his own ears and he can’t take his eyes off his hands, no longer trembling, but still stained with blood, despite how hard he had scrubbed — or maybe he was only imagining the blood. There had been so much blood. He knows she’s just trying to help and, honestly, he did need to talk. It just hurt.
“NCPD looked around and couldn’t find anything and they don’t think they will.” They had tried to speak quietly so he couldn’t hear them, but he heard every word. “I think it was an assassination, maybe from Arasaka or Militech or... I don’t know. I don’t know what to do.” He finally looks up at her, tears forming in his eyes. “His body isn’t even cold yet and there’s already talk about me taking over the company. It’s all about the politics and-and the fucking money. I just want to mourn my father in peace...” At least here — at the Afterlife ironically enough — heavily disguised in one of the back rooms of the club with his mother, he felt safe. He could mourn without fear of judgmental eyes on him, looking for weakness, looking for ways he could be exploited.
Are you even real friends if they don’t talk to you like this?
