To be fair, I did attempt to make some characters in the Jak and Daxter in the Sonic X art style for my crossover, and with some simple tweeks they surprisingly transfer over to the show’s art style very well. At least enough to where you can use an in-universe explanation by saying they’re just simply a different race or sub-species of humans.

They’re just ain’t no getting around Eggman, however, especially since he’s supposed to originally be from Earth. You could see that he’s really just a giant, weird bird and it would make just as much sense. Haha!

Oh-ho my, they do indeed transfer nicely to the Sonic X style. VERY good job here, and I love the ‘Jak-ified’ outfits that you’ve designed! I honestly figure that Sonic and co would just assume Jak and company to be Very Similar To Human aliens, given some of the stuff they’ve seen already, before a DNA test or somesuch confirms the two are one hundred percent related. And won’t THAT be a shocker, eh? 

But either way, this looks pretty amazing!

Aaaand yeah, Eggman in so many ways is just a towering testament to SEGA/Sonic Team’s inability/refusal to really put much thought into what they were doing around that time, isn’t he? God and it would have just been so, so simple to have all the humans be similarly cartoony, buuut nope! Evidently Eggman’s just some kind of misshappen horror!

Oh lord, I saw that whole "KNUCKLES IS BLACK" shit show go down in real time. Oh Twitter. Not only would Knuckles be considered more South America/Mayan descent if we were to really go by the real world inspiration for him and where he's from(Tikal is named after the real world ruins in Guatemala), but stuff like rap and hip-hop music is not exclusive to Black culture. I've heard a lot of Latin American rap music just living in Texas alone.

Honestly, at this point, who cares if you think Knuckles is black-coded because he was meant to be Jamaican-inspired, because he was associated with rap, because of the shape of his quills, or because he had a dark muzzle in Adventure 2 (a serious argument I’ve seen at least one person make). Headcanons are innocuous, as long as you remember that it’s YOUR interpretation and you have NO RIGHT to ruin someone else’s art or insult people who don’t see it the way you do.

When it comes to Sonic's dark super form in Sonic X, I tend to view it differently than the expected evil or villainous angle. For me it not only shows just how much Sonic really does care about his friends, but I think it also shows an emotionally vulnerable side to him. Even when not taking the bootleg emeralds the Metarex made into consideration, this one of the few times we see Sonic feeling not only helpless but angry. Not being able to help Cosmo, and especially Chris, set him off.

Oh ABSOLUTELY. This is how I view it too. Raw anger and desperation to do whatever it takes to save his friends. And helplessness, absolutely. Dark Sonic is one of my favorite forms and I wish they’d bring it into the main series, because it’d be a huge moment for Sonic as a character.

Don't quote me on this but I remember hearing somewhere that "furries" weren't as popular in Japan as they are in America, and the growth of the Japanese part of the furry fandom is very recent. I believe it, as someone who's been into making fursuit type cosplay for over a decade. Would also help explain why Sonic isn't as popular in Japan compared to the more Western parts of the world, besides him being made to appeal more to Western audiences.

Yeah, there just isn’t as much media starring animal characters in Japan. It’s certainly not nonexistent, but compare it to how common it is in the west. And even when you do have animal characters, a lot of the time they’ll be supporting characters or series mascots instead of the protagonist. Chopper, Morgana, etc.

The small but vocal Japanese side of the furry fandom has been starving for content for years and that’s why everyone is hyped for Beastars

Kind of funny whenever I hear about Ken Penders response to Locke's death because his death, along with the rest of the Brotherhood being done away with by Finitevus, always felt like a symbolic way of breaking a vicious cycle of abuse and cult-like control over generations of a family, and how it's not self-sustainable. Makes the whole thing with keeping Knuckles in the dark all the more unintentionally fitting, because that's exactly what cults and abusive relationships do.

Indeed. Not for nothing has it been noted that Penders’ writing for the Brotherhood would have been ideal for a VILLAINOUS organization, and his inability to recognize how they come off to others is nothing short of unnerving.

Can't believe Undertale is already five years old. It feels like yesterday when I first heard about the demo for it from it's Kickstarter campaign, and everyone and their grandmother thirsting over Sans when the game first came out. It feels surreal just even seeing fan art for it when it was still in it's development stages. I've actually been feeling very nostalgic for the game recently, myself.

It’s going to turn six this September and my life is flashing before my eyes :’)

I got into the fandom a bit later (as usual), I think I waited until 2016. I was planning to watch Markiplier’s let’s play, but he dropped it after two episodes because the fandom criticized his choice of voices (yeah)... and he explained what happened 4 months after that. (his second attempt at a playthrough was nowhere near as enjoyable as others because it was clear he did it because of fandom demand, but thankfully Jacksepticeye’s playthrough is probably the best you could watch)

Anyway, since I was so curious during those 4 months, I ended up playing the game for myself, and I’m very glad I did. It’s one of those games that are less “games” and more “experiences”. I admit I haven’t replayed it in ages, but it’s so memorable I don’t really feel the need to. Besides, I’m not going to ruin my perfect ending, I don’t want to upset Flowey :(

Too bad popularity comes with a certain kind of fandom... although funnily enough, the thing that turned me off the fandom wasn’t all the drama, it was the fact that by 2018 the Undertale tag was full of zany AUs that were Undertale in name only, and that was the sign the game itself had been eviscerated to death lol

Also, most of the early Tumblr sexymen were... not the suspects you would expect to be. At least Sans has a vaguely humanoid shape...
