#tangledtoberweek2025 week3: what if?, challenge by @fixateandcreate . I switched prompts. I recieved some pretty upsetting news on friday. It shocked me at first but soon after it gave way to anger. With some steam to let off and upcoming What If? prompt (for which I was about to draw Moon!Varian anyways, what a shocker) we ended up with this.

*Anakin has been blasting AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM for the last few days* ANYWAYS I finally finished this... reference? I guess it's a reference. More of a concept for my very own Moon!Varian au (cause obviously I have one... or three)

here he is!

so a bit of a run down of this au, obviously it's a moonstone au but basically in this au I have, Varian has remnants of the moonstone passed onto him through Quirin because of the blast. Quirin doesn't think it's safe for Varian in Corona, and Varian now being connected to the Moonstone, he only can think of one way to protect his son.

So he (metaphorically) calls up Adira and Hector, so the three of them essentially raise him. One issue though, it was only when Varian was very young that his powers actually did something, as they're heavily reliant on major emotions, so as Varian grows up he gets more control over his emotions, so his powers are much less prevalent. In fact, he doesn't actually KNOW he has the powers of the moonstone... until he does of course.

I do have more ideas for this au but that's the BASICCC run down

few notes about his outfit:

-the vest is inspired off of Quirin's vest- sweater- idk is it a vest?

-A lot of this outfit is also inspired ff of Adira's

-The color scheme is a mix of his own and Hector's

As much as I love Moonssandra, I’m certain that if Varian had the moonstone he wouldn’t even need the scroll. By the time he got back to Corona he would have EVERYTHING about the moonstone completely mastered. Guards at the entrance? Booyah, use various emotion rocks to distract them and trust rock armor to sneak in.

Between Moon Cass and Moon Varian, who do you think would win in a fight?

Depends on time they have to learn their powers. Cass took to it so naturally, and Varian likes to study to understand. If this were "poof! Both holding the Moonstone. Now fight!" Cass for SURE.

Had time to learn their powers and prep? It'd be a much closer fight. I lean towards Varian, because he was able to do a number on Cass in PEEV just by studying the rocks. Imagine if he had the actual Moonstone to work with! But Cass is a trained martial expert. She lands a couple blows--even just one strategic one--and he's down. (Not to mention he passes out at the sight of blood).

I firmly believe that, given time, resources, and information on his enemy, Varian could likely take on anyone. He's a glass canon, though. He can hit hard, be clever, make machines and chemical solutions.

Boy can't take a hit, though. I mean... in Nothing Left to Lose, he was quite literally beaten with a rock and kept singing. The blood thing, though? If Cass actually tried to cut him? I'm just not sure. It's a huge weakness that Cass knows about!

If he could get over that, I think Varian, but not easily.
