Working Girl | Jun Gloom

Okay Ashley really needed a job.
She’d known this from the moment she’d realized her trust fund had been largely drained, but she’d struggled with accepting the reality at her feet. Much as she’d struggled to move out and move into a small apartment and struggled with...well. Life in general. It was time for Ashley A. to get back on an upswing. At 26, almost 27 weeks pregnant there really was no time for her to waste.
Which meant work. She’d considered different possibilities: Hatter’s would be too stressful and she might dump coffee into assholes faces, the shoe shop that just opened up (but then she’d heard that some girls she couldn’t stand worked there), the record store was out if only because she was pretty sure her judgement of people’s music taste would get her fired.
That left only a few options. Chapter Three, where she thought maybe Belle would be sympathetic to her situation...or the Moon Market, where Jun Moon ran the place. Some might say this was a ridiculous direction to go, but Ashley was convinced this would be the right move. Mr. Moon after all was the one with the petitions she could actually respect.
So, Ashley found herself making her way into the market, her resume carefully printed on paper that smelled of roses. This largely compensated for the fact that she didn’t have that much experience, though she definitely could say she babysat, and she’d helped out with plays, and of course she’d organized a few great parties. All skills that weren’t particularly useful for working at the market, but she could argue it anyway.
It took her a moment to spot him, but once she did the girl straightened up and marched forward. No time to cower like one of the losers at secondary. “Mr. Moon? I’m sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if there was any chance you’d be hiring?”
