A settlement on the moon conducting scientific research attempts to prevail against rumour, human psychology, an inhospitable environment, and political interference.
Some of the stories are interesting because the setting is sol basic and isolated that every story has to focus entirely on the characters and explores the facets of human nature even when tempted to lean towards the more unreal aspects of science fiction such as aliens or profoundly surreal experimentation.
Although no doubt the budget benefited greatly from having such cheap locations like blank labs and confined ships or rovers, it means that the actual drama is very limited and there’s only so much traction the suspense can get when the entire series in such claustrophobic conditions since most of the drama has to rely on the trained astronauts losing their cool regularly.
Part of the fun is how the imagination of what a moon community would be like practically and personally. Naturally the physics has some basis in reality but other parts are all over the place, like when one character is getting lost in space there’s only one or two trained space pilots when they all should know the basics at least but the flaws all contribute to the amusement.
Even though there are so few episodes and they’re only 42 minutes each, they all seem to drag in places as technical or bureaucratic elements are argued upon. Several characters are flawed, which is expected, but their flaws are consistent and repetitive but excused on grounds of compassion rather than being healthily addressed, even an attempted rape is ignored after just an apology.
4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-
