Moonlight Stage haul!
Hi there! I'm super sorry if I'm coming off as rude, but months ago you translated one of Gyari's Vocaloid comics. I really like his music works, and as you may know, earlier on, Len was implied to be absent in Rin's jazz ensemble in comics and videos. In a comic "Moonlight Stage" (and "Afterstory") on his pixiv, there's this explanation to where Len went. Could you possibly tell me? You don't have to translate the whole thing, a summary would suffice. Again, sorry if I'm coming off as rude.
Hi! You’re fine, thanks for being so considerate! I’m not sure how much you know about the two Len’s: Gyari’s Len, and the Len whom Rin first met (in Moonlight Stage manga) and helped her to break into the Hall of Fame, so I took the liberty to tell the story since the beginning to clear up the two Len’s… but the reason why Gyari’s Len didn’t show up is in the second last paragraph.
Gyari’s Len was never around (Moonlight Stage manga says ”for some reason”) and Rin was alone. She didn’t get to sing much, so she got bored and started giving public performances, which weren’t received well by Users. At this point she met the other Len who helped her improve her piano playing. Both of them were barely used by their P’s, but this other Len had a dream to enter the Hall of Fame, which inspired Rin as well. Len told Rin that playing on the Moonlight Stage would grant any wishso this gave them hope to get into the Hall of Fame. (Which was a lie. The other Len wanted Rin to improve since she had the potential, so he wanted to push her.) Before they could play on the Moonlight Stage, Len told Rin they had to part ways since Len was infected with a virus. Before he was formatted, he had the chance to listen to Rin’s performance, in which he said was “the best.”
Rin treasured the time she spent with the other Len, and she would remember him when she played YOU. This is the reason she cried during the session. [edit: I found this misleading uuhh. She cried in CLANNAD session during the line “You’re the only one who’s not here/by my side.” And then Kaito said to Rin, “No wonder you wanted to play YOU.”]
In Moonlight Stage After Story, it was revealed that Gyari’s Len had always been around since Natsukage. He couldn’t muster up the courage to appear during their sessions since he believed he lacked the skills to play the instruments compared to the other three, and practiced alone in a “hidden folder” ever since. Rin asked why he didn’t even appear in normal times and he said he didn’t want to lose his pride. (Meiko likened this to those producers/artists who are such perfectionists and have so much pride they just never publicise their works.)
Rin and the other Len reunited in the After Story. Seems that the other Len didn’t disappear forever–his master thankfully had his data backed up. Happy end!
