Hi there! I really enjoy your tumblr posts and your characters. I kinda want to make my own but I have a few questions. What are some things I can do to develop my character? Is it possible to create a character without having a story about them at first? Sorry if this is too many questions. Thanks so much! ^^"

First off, thank you! c: Glad you enjoy them!

Honestly there’s novels and encyclopedias worth of information on character creation and development and if you’re interested, I would suggest searching up things like this, this and this. Srsly the internet is chock full of this stuff. You’ll never go through it all, haha!

For your second question, I would absolutely say yes! It’s entirely possible to create a character without having a story first. Characters can come from anything and all of mine ((including the world full of them aside from the three featured on this blog)) have been born of various things. Sometimes it’s something cool I saw outside or heard in a song that inspires me, or I might have found a name I really like and want to use, or I think of a backstory I’d like someone to have, or I draw someone new and eventually give them a story, or - and this happens a lot - they were a minor character in some other story and have been expanded on greatly.

Haha, there’s so many ways you can create characters so yeah! When I first started New Leaf I wasn’t too sure of a lot of things about Moony but they eventually came together.

TOWN NAME: MOONLITE | DC: 5900-3030-4905

Following a mysterious note signed only by 'moonlitecrossing' I find myself alone in the innocently named town of "Moonlite." Rain comes bearing down on me as I stand in the pitch black darkness, my bones ossified by the cold, and my entire body shaking with an inexplicable fear. I tell myself that I've been trained to deal with these sorts of situations, but the feeling remains.

Still worried, I call out for the mysterious mayor, but not a single sound disturbs the eerie silence. Could this be a trap? Perhaps I should have stayed home.

Lost and confused I follow the sparkling path, careful not to crush any of the expensive blue roses that line the road. It takes every ounce of willpower not to stop and smell them, they're quite beautiful --but I have more important matters at hand.

Further exploration takes me to a seemingly abandoned hotel. Again, I get the feeling that I should have stayed home. But it's too late to turn back now. Boldly I allow myself into the kitchen and make myself a meal before letting myself into an empty room. I lock the door and set myself to sleep. Perhaps in the morning I'll have an easier time finding the mayor.

... But halfway through the night a sound disturbs my slumber. I quickly dress myself and follow the sound into the basement. What I find disturbs me... whats a laboratory doing in a place like this?

As I explore the basement everything goes black...

When I awaken I am laying in a laboratory table... a strange man is standing over me. Somehow I manage to escape. But as I run through the forest I seem to keep falling... why would anyone cover the woods in traps when there is not a single animal in sight?

Covered in rain and mud, I find myself outside of another home. After the last unfortunate encounter I tell myself that I should not enter, but I once again stupidly ignore my own advice. And once more I find myself in trouble. This time I find myself in the same room as a an axe wielding maniac, a bloody mess sits before him. I reach out for my gun, but the holster is empty... HELP!
