Day 15: A Met Gala dress inspired by a Disney villain!

I did a dress based on the current ‘villain’ of Rapunzels Tangled Adventure season 3! No spoilers in case you haven’t watched it yet, which you absolutely should, it’s amazing.

I know I drew a thing from RTA like, 4 days ago, but listen. Season 3 has been amazing so far, and part of a theory I made over a year ago was confirmed in today's episode, so I’m pretty hype rn.

The Sun and the Moon - Not so different after all

I’ve recently been rewatching the series with my dad, and it got me thinking about Rapunzel’s new powers. What are they, and more importantly, why are they?

We know her hair, despite looking the same, is completely different in the way it functions. For one, we find out right in the first episode that it no longer has healing properties.

But there’s something Varian points out that’s very interesting in Secret of the Sun Drop.

This direct comparison got me thinking about Rapunzel’s new powers, and her connection to the rocks. Maybe she no longer has the Sun’s power, but the Moon?

She got her hair back by touching the rocks after all, which are explicitly tied with the Moon and Moon Opal.

I’m not saying she isn’t the Sun Drop still, I very much believe she is! She never interacted with the Moon Opal to gain it’s powers directly after all. What I’m saying is that the Sun’s powers have inverted to those of the Moon’s. I assume it’s because the Sun Drop is gone thanks to the movies events, and the Moon is all that’s left. 

So what this is now, is a quest to return the Sun and balance to the world, and the Moon wants to help.

So what exactly are the Moon’s powers? Just the rocks? Of course not, the powers are in the hair after all, the rocks are extra, probably like manifestations on the Moon itself or something idk. Rapunzel has no idea what her new powers actually are but she has used them before!

When the tower was destroyed and they had nowhere to go but off the roof, they all jump and- 

-her hair magically wraps itself around them to shield them from the fall, glowing just like it used to when healing. Now, I haven’t watched the movie in a while, but I can’t recall it ever doing something like that of it’s own accord. It was always Raps, throwing it around herself.

So what does this mean? Well, it seems that the Sun Drops powers really are gone, and it’s Rapunzel’s destiny to bring it back and bring balance to Light and Dark once more. Will she revive it within herself? Within Eugene, who the powers were last used on? Or perhaps...someone who has the Moon’s powers with in them? We’ll just have to wait and see, As for the powers, well-

The Sun heals. The Moon protects.
