Chapter Eight - “The Water Kingdom Trial” (Part 4/4)

And I’m back with the last part of this chapter! I’m ngl it’s been a rough semester with all my classes and losing my Apple Pencil and such. But I hope y’all’s like dis 👉🏼

Reasons I think Varian Was Meant To Be The Moonstone

Okay, so I am a heavy reacher when it comes to tangled and I am also a firm believer that Varian was originally meant to be the moonstone but they changed it to Cassandra because either they wanted some massive plot twist or they thought Varian being a villain 3 times was too much. I think personally Varian would have been the better moonstone holder, nothing against Cass I just think he would have made a better villain.

1- Cassandra's villain arc makes absolutely no sense.

Not only was this sudden change out of the blue with zero build up to it besides from Adira, but overall it isn't her personality at all. The whole "Gothel preferred you as a daughter" feels like a very rushed plot point just to give Cass some edge and a reason to hate Rapunzel. She was there, she knows about what Gothel was like and the things Rapunzel went through and she barely knew her in the first place.

2- Varian is the only one with abnormal hair colour.

Okay this one I REALLY looked into. If you go through the tangled series, there is not a single person who has any strange hair colours. And this one is explained in two sections. First half being about genetics and parents. Only 4 people in the show have their parents shown. Rapunzel, Eugene, Varian and Cassandra.

Cassandra shares the same hair colour and eye colour as mother Gothel. Eugene shares the same hair colour and eye colour as both of his parents. Now Rapunzel is when things get interesting. Rapunzel has the natural hair colour of her mother, but only when she isn't effected by the sundrop. The sundrop is what changed her hair colour.

Now for my explanation. Varian, is the only one, who doesn't follow this pattern. His father had black hair and via a canonical portrait, his mother was ginger.

So where did the teal hair come from? Now I hear you yelling "But Indi!! He could have had an alchemical accident or added it in himself!!" But is that true?

Because looks like he was born with it. And if Varian followed the pattern of the others with their parents, that hair stripe would be ginger. We've seen Quirin front and back and no where does he have that same stripe, likewise his mother doesn't show on either.

Cassandra's hair only TURNED teal after using the moonstone. However, Rapunzel, who would have genetically been born brunette, was born blonde because she was afflicted by the sundrop before she was born. And where did Varian's father come from? That's right, reason number 3.

3- Quirin and the brotherhood.

We know now that Quirin is a part of the brotherhood. All 3 of them have affiliations to the moonstone. Quirin was around when the blast from it had happened. The moonstone and the sundrop share something in common. Once they touch your insides, like the sundrop being drank by Arianna, and like Cassandra put the moonstone in her chest. Once touched internally, you are officially effected by it's power. Quirin was extremely close when the blast happened, there was no way he didn't get any injuries from it, which would have been a part of him to then pass down to his son. While Gothel, had no affiliations with the moonstone in the slightest.

There is more I could go off of but those reasons are more to do with my personal opinions about the lore and how the story should have gone while these ones are facts.

But yes I am very, very annoyed at the fact they didn't end up using Varian as the moonstone when the potential he could have had story wise would have been so insanely interesting rather than just sticking him with the Saporian's only to get betrayed in one single episode. Varian had such lackluster lore for such an important, repeated character in the series and then Disney denied us VAT7K.

Yes I am very mad about this.

Disney-Frozen and Tangled Mirror Theory

A long time ago I read a theory explaining that the original Snow Queen's Magic Mirror was Disney's True Villain. I realized something today. Before I explain it, this theory holds that every Disney story has a "Magic Mirror as the real villain."

Now we all know that Tangled and Frozen take place in the same universe.

Because we saw Rapunzel and Eugene at Elsa's coronation. My theory depend on "the same universe" theory, i found another parallel. In the episode "A Tale Of Two Sisters" of Tangled the series, we saw that Gothel had a lot of mirrors and looked at them for days.

She has a collection. When Rapunze live in the tower we saw Gothel looks into the mirror in the tower and think about herself's beauty for hours. Arrogant. The mirror which Rapunzel when she first wore the crown. In the story of the Snow Queen, the Magic Mirror created by the trolls, then broken. The mirror falls to the earth, reaches people's hearts and eyes. What if the peace of the broken mirror enters the peace of ALL mirrors on earth ? Turn humans to peoples who look at all the beauty with selfishness and are unlogical suspicious of the earth and people. Feed their unreasonable feelings . When the Tale Of Two sisters happened Cassandra notice the mirrod which changed by Zhan Tiri then look at it. From the first time Cassandra saw her changed memories with Gothel, Cassandra believes that this is Rapunzel's trick before listening to Rapunzel. Even Rapunzel never leaves Cassandra in Gothel's place and they  looks at all the mirrors  together. The peace of Magic Mirror is in all mirrors. In yesterday's tomorrow's house there was a real mirror that turns people into their villains, yes Gothel is arrogant but this mirror feeds her. Cassandra doesn't trust Rapunzel but mirror feed it. If Cassandra doesn't trurst Rapunzel with no doubt why she feel she can be a team with Rapunzel and feel happiness when getting along with Rapunzel

Cassandra, I don't think the mirror turn her against Rapunzel and did all this. Cassandra's villain was realistic and amazing. Also Varian's

Then after all this, I found a Frozen - Tangled Parallel

The mirror feed Gothel's arrogant mind for years now shows Gothel's true self. Because it broken peace by peace

And

Second mirror in Arendelle's boat the boat Agnar and Iduna use to their search for Antohallan. What if Agnar look at this mirror and mirror covers the heart of Agnar with an unreasonable doubt about Elsa's power (reasonable doubt is an extremely useful thing, but it is unreasonable.....) and wants to keep Elsa a secret forever. He doesn't want to show Elsa to the world or make Elsa accept her powers. The Royal family of Arendelle had a fear of magic that influenced King Agnar in his childhood, but now it mirror reflects his fears.

If this theory is real, trolls have knowledge about the magic Mirror, but trolls are not evil. Even in this theory love can melt mirrors

Okay, please tell I'm not the only one who noticed this. Vex's ear are like, super pointy!

Okay, y'all gonna call me crazy. But think about it. We've never seen her parents. She has unusually pointy ears. And she's very talented with weapons. I suspect...

She may be part elvish.

Do you see it?! I do! Anyone else notice this? This may or may not be important to my fic later.

alright so we know that when Rapunzel uses the decay incantation it burns people who touch her.

but in the great tree episode adira tackles and bumps Rapunzel into the water without being burned.

varian is also unaffected by touching Rapunzel during the incantation.

adira as well as quirin were blasted by the moonstone. so perhaps it grants some resistance.

but adira is hurt by the “radial” effect.

so maybe similar to how the sun drops power was passed on to the child of the drinker, a similar thing happened with varian.

and power of the sundrop and moon stone when passed on to a child from a parent who was effected will be stronger than acquiring the same amount of the power directly of something.
