It honestly doesn't matter that Salem has gotten better at drawing technically, because none of his stuff has a single iota of charm or personality anymore.
Despite some of my nitpicking, I'm actually a huge fan of imperfect/amateur art. Because a lot of the time you can tell there's a lot of genuine creative passion and potential. That was actually the kind of charm that was in his super early Puppychan art, before he got popular.
I think my favorite art from this time was when he was first developing a story for all his OCs, primarily Suna (The little yellow dog-like girl) and Tsue (The white fox) They're just all so adorable!
I believe this last picture was actually a collab between him and another artist, but the way his characters are designed here just makes me super invested in them. Oh, what could have been...
