        rose  blooms  to life on cheeks, soft smile lifting corners of lips to expose dimples as manicured fingers brush through styled vermillion locks. it's a simple compliment, one she’s heard  plenty  of times before, but it never fails to  BRIGHTEN  mood and color skin in varying shades of pink.   ❛  thank you  ——  i  love  the outfit, by the way. very chic.  ❜

        though she’s  missed  out on seeing whatever catastrophic thing happened, it doesn’t stop sympathetic grimace from quickly morphing into encouraging smile. she waves  DISMISSIVE  hand, as though movement could rid him of whatever embarrassment he’s experienced.   ❛  i’m sure it couldn’t have been  that  bad  ——   RIGHT?   ❜

        brow raises at quid pro quo, lips pursed and head tilting with curiosity. she's  exhausted  nearly all her other resources, finds herself staring down a  DEAD END  in her investigation. a promising lead has brought her to the other, and her offer hints to daphne that maybe she’s on the  right  track. a moment of hesitation stills words on tongue, but she shakes it off and aims to be  LIONHEARTED  with steeled nerves. she bites proverbial bullet.   ❛  what  kind  of something?   ❜

        ❛   GOOD  for you?   ❜   she can’t help spluttering echo, disbelief in lazuline gaze and honest affront in set of brows. she can understand liking the state of being alone, even thinks it’s  healthy  for someone to spend time ruminating. but she can’t   (  won’t!  )   condone lonely, not when she’s long ago learned just how  bottomless  that feeling can be. easy grin finds way onto features.   ❛  if you thought you were  ever  going to get rid of me, guess again. you’re  STUCK  with me now.  ❜   she vows, cadence light and tinged with resolution.

        ❛  i know the feeling,  ❜   she mutters, gaze downcast to chipping polish. she used to dream, all  brightness  and  warmth  and idyllic flashes. halcyon nights are long gone, replaced with an inability to sleep from horrors tattooed into psyche and an exhaustion she feels  DEEP  within her bones. but fatigue is  EXPERTLY  masked with concealer and caffeine, visage morphing into one of  pleasant  indifference as she gives little away.   ❛  at least we can still daydream, though. it’s not the same, but at least it’s better than  nothing.   ❜

        ❛  honestly, i don’t really remember seeing my first ghost.  ❜   at least, not her first  REAL  ghost. years of experiencing false occult have  numbed  fearful reactions whenever she meets  actual  spirits  ——  a growing frequency the more she investigates. she’d be lying if she said she didn’t  PREFER  it this way, that finding real ghosts and monsters wasn’t part of the reason she even joined mystery inc. she shrugs and brushes copper tendrils over shoulder.   ❛  i probably saw a ghost, like, a  super  long time ago and just never realized it.  ❜

Housing Contest 5 - A House With a Story: @moonsister’s Twin Arches

There is a house near Hallin´s Stand that is said to be haunted. Former livestock is roaming the place but no person has been seen walking in for as long as anyone can think. Yet blue light shines over the walls and a terrible moaning sound can be heard when you get close. 

Many have tried to rob the place but only one thing has ever been brought back: A letter. 

“From the moment I first laid eyes on you, that day when you saved me from being sacrificed in that dreadful dungeon, I fell in love. Like a thunderstorm made flesh you fell on your enemies and you were the most beautiful and terrible thing to behold. 

The journey we had made our hearts grow into one, every adventure we had, every monster we have slain giving substance to a bond so loyal and strong that not even time will ever break it. Your heart has always been as fierce in its love and anger as the magic you wield, raining destruction on your opponents yet also bringing life to this barren place of my ancestors.

I swear this to you, my love, and to those that came before me: I promise to stay at your side, in joy and pain, in hunger and hardship. To cherish what we became and built together. I promise to protect you and what is ours, in life and beyond, as your magic has protected me countless times.

My sword arm shall for ever be yours to rely on and my heart shall be yours for all ages to come. Wait for me, love, when you pass on before me. I promise, I will find you.”
