Do you have any headcanons surrounding moonshadow mounts and the assassins (like Runaan and the moon strider that was most likely his)??
Also did you notice that the moonstrider that was probably Runaan's suffered a very similar fate to his- getting its soul forcibly ripped its body.
I think this ask might have been sent before I put out the chapter where the assassins talked about this. I have a bunch in here that are Real Old, and I'm sorry 😅
To answer here though;
Runaan's always been fond of moonstriders, as their high energy and vigilance matches his tension but keeping them calm helps him focus. The moonstrider we see in the show is named Shinx, and he and Ethari got her at the same time as Ethari's mount (the shadowpaw Astari) so the two would have a playmate. It was one of the first things they did as a couple after moving in together, as they both liked having other little lives around the house for when the other was out at work.
Skor has a shadowpaw named Lindir (the meta is he's named after the bard from Rivendell in LOTR) that Runaan gave him after he lost his voice. Having the kitten to raise and look after during his mental and emotional recovery helped a lot. He adores the cat and leaves him with the Rangers of the Silvergrove when he has to leave on missions.
Callisto doesn't keep pets or mounts because they don't feel it's fair to take responsibility for another life when they don't have anyone to take the creature if they die on a mission.
Andromeda's shadowpaw is named Scorchfeather, because there's only so much you can do to keep some animals from messing with fire or hot stoves. Sometimes they just keep pushing until they learn the hard way, and her kitten scorched her feathers on a cookstove when she was learning. She wasn't hurt in any lasting way, but she learned a healthy respect for heat! She's a cuddly creature and shares a bed with Andromeda and Elyrin, much to Elyrin's chagrin before they got a bigger one.
Ram has a very prissy and dignified older shadowpaw, given to him when he completed the first stage of his Keeper training as a teenager. The shadowpaw's name is Elros (meta named after Elrond's twin who chose a human life, the ancestor of Aragorn). Lyrennus keeps Elros with his own shadowpaw (currently unnamed but I'm probably gonna call him Earendil or Tuor, Elrond and Elros' father or grandfather respectively) when Ram's away. Now that his wife is gone, his cat is allowed in his room; it helps to have another warm body in the bed, and his cat is equally elderly and tends to settle pretty well and not be restless. When Elros is there, he and Tuor tend to sleep together curled up by the fireplace. Ram and Elros aren't especially touchy with each other in public, both a bit more distant with their affection, but their idea of quality time is vibing sitting next to each other with Elros' tail curled around Ram's leg, or Ram's toes touching Elros' back or something.
Rayla doesn't have her own mount yet because Ethari's been putting it off. He has veto power over adding any new lives to their household since he's the only one who doesn't travel and is thus responsible for any pets or mounts they have, and he has been hesitant about adding a third one. Privately, he was still holding out hope that Rayla would change her mind about being an assassin, and choose something that wouldn't require her to leave, up until the mission to kill Harrow. He had planned to give in when she returned.
