Synthetic ropes are mainly supplied as full 220m coils or as 11m tails.
At TEHO we can also supply custom made ropes in shorter lengths or tails of 22m or even 33m. Our MAGNARO ropes are spliced at our facilities in Rotterdam, Houston, Singapore or Busan.
Mainly servicing customers active in Maritime, Industry and Oil & Gas, TEHO Ropes Europe has gained a leading position within the EMEA, Africa and India region by offering a complete range of quality mooring equipment from stock enforced with class certification, short delivery times and unequalled customer service.
TEHO is expanding its business in India! We very recently hired a new colleague for our India operations and celebrated the inauguration puja for the new office space in Mumbai. This is another important step in the exciting journey of TEHO Ropes Europe, who will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary next year.
Re-splicing a mooring rope is a very important skill needed onboard of vessels. A wrong splice can weaken the rope and increases the chance of rope failure. TEHO Ropes have specialists available to train crew and technical management on how to splice fibre ropes.
The characteristics of each fibre rope are governed primarily by the material properties, which may be enhanced or moderated during the production process. However, rope selection is ultimately a balancing act between the characteristics of the material, the rope construction, vessel requirements, operating conditions, environmental and safety concerns and of course, cost.
Tails or pennants will provide additional elasticity to wire and high modulus mooring lines and reduce the dynamic loads induced in the mooring line by allowing the ship to respond more freely to various combinations of wind, wave and current, as well as to ships passing nearby. Tails will also distribute the loadings more evenly among the various mooring lines. According to MEG4 the Tail Design Break Force (TDBF) should be 125%-130% of the ship design MBL. Tails are generally connected to mooring lines either through the use of mechanical connecting devices (i.e. mooring links and mooring shackles with steel wire ropes) or directly with the use of a cow hitch (with HMPE ropes).
Mooring lines or mooring wires
Mooring lines or mooring wires used to secure a ship at a berth. Mooring lines should be arranged as symmetrically as possible about the midship point of the ship. The mooring line should be able to absorb shocks that are generated by wind or swell. The amount of stretch required is defined by the situation of the vessel is moored. Harbors with good protection require minimal stretch, while mooring in places where you might experience big swells it is important to have good stretch. In this case even extra items may be required such as rubber stretchers.
Ropes India
Renowned for having one of the most comprehensive and robust inventory of steel wire ropes, TEHO Ropes stocks wire ropes from some of the best manufacturers in the industry, distinguished by our trademark, WREXCO®.
We are stringent that our wire ropes are true to their technical specifications, principally those of BS 302, BS EN12385, ISO 2408:2004, JIS G3525 and API-9A. All our ropes are inspected by class societies of ABS, DNV.GL, NK or Lloyd’s.
Our Magnaro® HMPE rope is an advanced synthetic rope which combines light-weight, unmatched strength and excellent abrasion resistance to make mooring operations safer and faster. Its weight is 7 times lower than steel wire in the same size without compromising on strength. Magnaro® HMPE features superb ease of handling, low cost of ownership and long lasting service life. With very low snap back the Magnaro® HMPE provides additional safety during mooring. TEHO Ropes supplies the Magnaro® HMPE in accordance with OCIMF’S MEG4. Please contact your local TEHO Ropes representative for additional information.
