Thinkin about how close my views align with that of satanists
It is small amusement in miserable times that sad, wet, pathetic, morally abhorrent sacks of men can inspire such fervid obsession from fans. Yes, I am talking about SASAS. Feel free to speculate on who precisely I'm talking about, I wanna see who you think it is.
I owe you an update on SASAS. To Knowledge Cloaked in Factoid is hiding under writer's block right now on account of it sprouted new cool plot beats that were unplanned and require heavy editing. It affects very little of what's already been uploaded but does however mean a sequence I was incredibly proud of in the finale needs substantial editing. Given the type of scene is not one I've ever done edits on this scale on before, to say I was intimidated would be an understatement. Ergo, writer's block. I do however have a beta now. In some ironic twist of fate this beta is only a fan of my fanworks and knows absolutely nothing about the source material, but so far that's worked out okay. After all this monstrosity had gained sentience and no longer deigns to observe Canon law. Such is my fate, it's literary slave.
Sorry, Roman possessed me for a moment there.
Also I now have a romcom concept that pays homage to Fandom. Yes, indeed, I, Mr. Aromantic Disasters Only, am writing a romcom. Jewish Roman, Remus and Logan, Cuban-American Virgil with OCD and WIPs which double as the inciting incident for the piece. Mistaken identity enemies to lovers plot. I want it to be short it probably won't be. It is named after the title for the bonus content fic I'm planning to write after SASAS is written, because there's a lot of writing commentary that can go with it.
"It Was Supposed to be a One-Shot!: The Fic" vs. "It Was Supposed to be a One-Shot!: Bonus Features for SASAS."
Anyway there's your update, provided from the Cafe of a Barnes and Noble on my phone because life is being mean right now. (I still have a home and food and I'm fine, I'm just waiting around for errands to be run and am very bored.
Postponement
Logan's part is getting pushed farther back.
For a long time, I made peace with the idea Logan's part would be passable. It'd be enough to hopefully keep my readership until it was over. I was not happy with it. I was not nearly as proud of it as I am the other installments in this series.
I just got an idea that could save it, except it involves adding thousands of words and spending God knows how long in the developmental trenches editing what I already have. It is, to a large extent, getting rewritten. But now that I have the idea, not taking the time to improve what I have, thanks to the distance I've gotten from it with my beta's help, would feel like a betrayal to you guys. You deserve quality and the best work I can give you.
So yeah, Logan's part is a ways out. The nice thing is, by the time Logan's part goes up, the finale will either be entirely written or mostly written.
I'm going to read through the entire series one last time probably before Logan's part goes up to try to add in any dangling plot threads I may have forgotten while I wrote hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of words. However, it is very likely there will be minor dangling plot threads that never get resolved. If any leave you with burning questions, you can maybe send in an ask once the series is complete for what my plan for it was, or ask for an additional or AU fic to explain it.
So...the Morality Is Grey Series Has Continued
It occurred to me that I'm...not sure if I posted on here that I posted the sequels to Morality Is Grey? It's not finished yet, I'm still uploading the beginning of Your Pride Forfeit to the Void and skipped over Logan's part (To Knowledge Cloaked in Factoid) because it just was not cooperating and it wasn't good for my mental health to continue fighting with it. I actually thought about it and none of the reveals in that part are actually essential to understand anything about Roman's and I am very excited to hear your opinions about his part.
Anyway, And Denial Paves the Way, "Isn't It Lovely, All Alone: Paranoia's Interlude" and Your Pride Forfeit to the Void up to chapter six are all posted on AO3 in my series A Story of a Soul in All Its Stripes.
Please, if any of you were wanting to continue reading and I just...didn't let you know I'd updated...sorry. I really recommend subscribing to the series. You have the option at the top of that link. It is much more reliable than depending on me to remember to update my Tumblr.
More Updates
I've finished the developmental edits for And Denial Paves the Way. I'm now begrudgingly working on To Knowledge Cloaked in Factoid. Wish me luck because this isn't easy. I am writing it completely out of order and winging it as I go because this style is so unusual. I'll figure it out and once I get the hang of it it shouldn't take that long to write. It's the getting the hang of it that's the trick.
Finally An Update
So I got distracted writing another universe (ducks rotten fruit I’m sorry! The whimsy struck me and it just kinda happened!). You can read that here.
However, I finally got to working on And Your Pride Will Pay the Cost again, and--drum roll please...
I FINISHED IT!
Granted, there’s still two parts after this, and also I need to actually write Logan’s part, so that’s three, but aside from Logan’s part being difficult, it should be relatively short, and the last two parts should be much shorter than all the rest of this has been.
Okay I just looked at word counts. And Your Pride Will Pay the Cost is LONGER THAN MORALITY IS GREY! Janus’ part is shorter, but holy fucking shit. It just kinda spiraled out of all control.
Anyway, Roman’s part is done. I have to do some developmental edits now while I have Roman’s voice down, but then it’s onto Logan’s part--which is partially written, and I have to do some research for it (and also, like...grab some sources for research for the things I have a special interest in and just know)--and then we can start wrapping this baby up.
Although Patton’s part is going to be heavy on flashbacks, so...more updates to come, I guess.
For the fanfic ask, I'm curious about F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it. :D Hope you're doing well!
Honestly, my favorite (without spoilers) is probably the confrontation scene in Morality Is Grey. It took a lot of work to build to that in a satisfying way and make the payoff hit right, and it was tricky not to fall into melodrama with it, but the end result hit people exactly how I wanted it to. I had people crying and hating how much they understood every side in that argument (and you'll only understand them more as I write the sequels). That will probably go down as one of my best dialogue scenes ever, although I'm working on improving with comedic timing and writing more complex scenes with manipulative characters, it's just hard because I have some symptoms in common with autism (I might be autistic), so stuff like comedy and manipulating people is really challenging for me.
