when u go for vibes in a movie
I remember when I attended an Oscar’s party I frequented with a certain family and how often I saw the impression of a movie through their lens. Oftentimes I wouldn’t see it not because I thought their view was gospel, but simply because the way they spoke about each film was riddled with moralization and not the empathic impact…
so when the guy I was trying to impress said The King’s Speech was good but had a lot of swearing, I considered the film to be pointless. The same way they would recommend a show. Not because I wouldn’t watch a movie with swearing, but that’s what the film was reduced to in their minds.
it turns out I actually love these movies because I love them for what it has, not what someone imposes is lacking. They focused on how much they usually love Colin Firth but he swore too much. My brain gloms onto Lionel’s silliness and warmth. We are not the same.
