a/n: I didn't know you'd guys like that muzan drabble! I found it a bit weird (even for my standards!) but I'm not against the idea, so here you go! ps, might make the demon slayer masterlist before the jjk one, hehe.
trope: muzan x gn!lowermoon!reader (short oneshot)
CW: muzan speaks ill of humans, isolation (?), fluff somehow?, uppermoon mention
The soft motion of the beautiful red spider lilies sway with the wind. Still, there is not a hint of a blue hue as Muzan had hoped. It makes him disappointed, but that is not what he's here for right now. There are footsteps that don't belong to him, soft footsteps that know their place. Even as the footsteps get closer and closer, his head does not move, he knows who it is.
A hand touches his shoulder in the most careful way, almost as if one bad move would get them banished. Only when he feels your touch does he turn his head. You, in the markings you'd gained when you turned into a demon, his so called beloved.
"Are you happy to finally get out of the Infinity Castle?" Muzan asks, taking your hand off his shoulder. "Does this...human-filled place please you so much?" He was rather hesitant about taking you on this 'date'. The idea of a demon slayer getting their hands on you made him sweat. But you had begged (not really, his beloved is not pathetic) him for some fresh air, and most times your only company in the Infinity Castle was Nakime, who was not fond of conversing.
You nod, making sure to stay at a distance to not bother him. "Thank you," You say. "I made sure not to pick one with wisterias in them." Muzan's eyes soften for a millisecond, not expecting the thoughtfulness. "I saw there was a koi pond near, can we go by and see it?" Although you were already pushing his limits, he did not deny your requests.
There is comfortable silence between you two, which is what happens most of the time. Muzan is not fond of long conversations about meaningless things, he's glad you don't push it. He makes sure to keep an eye on the surroundings. He knows he can deal with them swiftly, but it's you he is worried about. Though he doesn't show it, he makes sure to keep you protected, the best way is through the Infinity Castle. However, this has led to you not knowing the best way to protect yourself, even if you were promoted to a lowermoon.
You crouch down to look at the Koi fish, it is mostly the fish swimming and the small waterfall making most of the noise. You stare at them for a good minute.
"Why is it that humans put them in such small ponds?" You ask, looking back at Muzan, who doesn't match your energy in crouching.
"It seems the answer is always the same, no?" Muzan says, turning his head to look at the mounds of forests. "Humans are vile."
"Then perhaps we could make a bigger one for them?" You ask, and Muzan cocks his head at the question.
"Do you feel empathy for these mindless fish?" He asks, his jaws tensing for a second.
"No," You answer. "But...wouldn't it feel better if we got revenge on these humans by..helping the fish?"
Muzan does not answer, and doesn't face you. You worry for a second that he might be angry, but it seems he's thinking instead.
"Let's go back to the Infinity Castle," He says. "I predict there will be demon slayers scouting these areas soon." He offers his hand, and his shoulders relax just the slightest.
the Uppermoons are VERY displeased at their new mission.
