AH
so at my old high schools performing arts department there were 5 teachers: the band/orchestra guy, the dance teacher, the acting/tech teacher, the choir teacher, and the director of the department.
and yeah it might not have always been the Best arts department but everyone loved it because the teachers were all amazing and loved the kids and we loved them and all things considered it was a solid department.
this year tho, (as in this summer) the choir teacher was asked not to come back, the acting/tech teacher took a job in a different district, and the director resigned. that’s like more than half the department. and the director and the acting/tech teacher were really the only ones holding the whole thing together.
i was a freshmen when the department got the choir teacher cause the old choir teacher became the director. and everyone had a really hard time getting used to her. I can really only imagine what it’s going to be like for those kids this year.
but at the same time, they announced the new director of the department and she has the literal best resume. and she’s a dancer so hopefully she’ll whip the dance department into shape cause rn it’s a whole disaster. and I have faith in her (my sister does not).
and also shout out to my very very very white high school for hiring a black female performing arts director who has a background in social justice.
the countdown on her instagram……. that’s so scary….
excited as always to learn what's going on on supernatural, a tv show that ended a month ago
