Sometimes I feel like sex positivity clashes with being ace because on the one hand I'm really supportive of sex being something people are comfortable around (hello I used to do programs on this and I am so 100% about reproductive physiology) but on the other hand I'm sick of awkwardly watching gratuitous sex scenes on TV especially when it's an unhealthy portrayal of how to solve communication problems.

Fun fact: up till I found out Luffy is apparently ace the only asexual fictional character I knew of was Dexter (the justicey killer one) and the problem on that one is pretty obvious

About "asexuals"… I once told someone that I was asexual. They looked at me like I was an idiot and explained how "asexual" meant reproducing by themselves. It was the first time I've described myself that way and the first time I've had my (non)sexuality invalidated. So yeah, when you say we need asexual characters, I agree.

Man. Anon, I'm with you 100%. I was sick and tired of my mom relating all my problems from not having sex and not being in a relationship so I told her I was asexual and explained it only to find out she'd been gossiping about me to my uncle and telling him that the only reason I was like that was because I was depressed and he called me a starfish cuz of the whole reproduction thing.
