Fuck yeah grats!
Thanks! Now I just need to touch up on my, beating desktops till they work, skills!
long post is long ...
this is fucking ridiculous! My laptop was gone for two months and a half, there was hardly anything wrong with it, yeah occasional shit, but nothing critical, or at least so I thought. The only reason why I gave it to this family friend who works at Sony is because he offered and my mom (nosy as per usual) wanted him to take it and check it. When I gave it to him, he said that because I had installed windows 8 wrong, the camera and video drivers weren't working, so I figured: "ok, so reset it to factory settings and install windows 8 properly, doesn't sound too bad" i thought it'd take maybe 2 weeks max, boy, I was wrong. After 2 weeks he came back with it, fully restored to factory settings, all empty. I was fine, but I also found out it had windows 7 instead of 8 I asked if he could take it again to install it, after all I had the software for free, why not use it? So he took it...
Since he was doing us a favor, I didn't push too much, finally, about 3 weeks after, he told us that there was something else wrong but they had fixed it, and I could pick it up. I did, I was fucking excited, but that night when I tried it, I noticed that the battery was not working, it was as if it had died. The next day I took it back to Sony headquarters, he said it was probably just the battery, that it had just died. I didn't buy that, my laptop is less than 2 years, i have another one (that now my mom owns) and the battery still works just fine, but whatever, he said he'd get a spare battery. A week after he tells me my laptop is flying to Texas because they need to check the motherboard and daughter board and some other shit like that and it would take one more week and maybe some more days. Fine. I waited, i had waited 2 months already. So finally I go pick it up from him 2 days ago. I check it with him in his house and try to install a couple things to make sure they work. Now when he told me to pick it up, he said that it was with Windows 7, that i'd have to wait a bit more for Windows 8. I figured, I liked 8, but fuck it! I'll keep 7, my arch programs run better there anyway. I was happy keeping 7, I made my peace... but once I get there and open it, it's 8. I got confused, but if he had pulled strings to make it 8 then fine, whatever i'll take 8.
He said they had changed a bunch of hardware, that everything was new and shit, that nothing would happen to it anymore. Well I took home, I was happy, excited, maybe even hyper and buzzed. I let it sleep that first night, i figured I'd start installing my programs the next morning. The next morning I wasn't so lucky, for starters, it wouldn't connect to the internet, then programs' setups wouldn't run properly, they would show up and then disappear. It was frustrating, very frustrating. Fine, I figured if I can't connect yet, I'll just download everything from somewhere else and transfer it in a usb drive, and I did, I installed Office, CAD, chrome, firefox, Adobe, I struggled with itunes and avast but they finally worked... and that took all day because in between my trying to install, i also tried to check the wifi... which still wouldn't work.
Finally today, I transferred a bunch of my files from my external drive. and I kept trying to connect, but no, nothing, nada! I don't know what I haven't tried, i'm running out of options and my laptop won't connect to my home network. I don't think it's the laptop, after all it worked at our friend's house, and it's not the router here because the other computers work just fine. Up until a few hours ago i thought that was the only problem... but now it seems that if it goes to "sleep mode" the fans get super hot and make loud noises and the screen goes black, i can't wake it, nothing works unless I force shut it down and turn it on again. I just researched that too, and it seems to be a popular problem on Vaio's ... that just got me even more frustrated... and it makes me remember, that when I first got it, I hated it. I didn't want a new laptop, I didn't NEED a new laptop. It was a totally unnecessary purchase and an expensive one too. When my parents gave it to me, i literally asked them "why? I don't need this, and it looks expensive" they said "it's fine, it's got good graphics, it's just like a Mac but in PC" that just pissed me off even more, that made me think "fuck! just how much money did you spend in this?! my laptop works fine, it's not old, what the hell?" and they asked me, "you want it right?" and I said no, I didn't, I wanted them to return it, but then mom just said " oh please! it's just 21st we didn't get fancy stuff, I wish we could've gotten stuff like this" That just fucking hurt more, don't guilt trip me into keeping it, but I did. I kept it, and it took me a long while to accept it. The new one was bigger but lighter, but it also looked so much more fragile, it made me nervous... and now, now I really wish I hadn't accepted it. It's caused me so much trouble, trouble I never had to go through with my old one... which still works fine. i'm still trying to get the damn wifi to work with it...
