The books are, although groundbreakingly innovative and tremendously imaginative for their time(Tolkien set the stage baby, clearly).......were.........blander than bland-ie-die bland-bland! Dull. Drums. They read more like non fiction because of the lack of passion invoked. I'd go so far as to say I DESPISED reading them.........almost, if it weren't so NECESSARY... Thank GOD for Peter Jackson. Thank GOD for his vision, for the movies. He blew Star Wars the HELL out of the UNIVERSE, in terms of quality in every facet of the movie......(clearly not relying on ONE actor like a certain HARRISON FORD *smirk* as in my mind's eye, Star Wars is/was/is/was CRAP w/o him!) I really wish Peter---the BASTARD---would helm a comic book movie.....ala Marvel Studios! Cross those fingers people!!!! Man....when this trailer hits.....*zoiinnnkkk*

Did anybody notice the lack of reaction among the Enterprise crew in the 2009 film to the fact that that the Romulans are a Vulcan offshoot race.A fact the Vulcans themselves kept under wraps? In the original timeline,it was revealed that during the Romulan war, the warring sides never laid eyes on each other in person and the peace treaty was worked out over subspace radio.In fact, it was Kirks crew that saw a Romulan's appearence for the first time on a Federation viewscreen and the first reaction was astonishment that they resembled Vulcans.
