with morel season rapidly approaching, I want to remind beginner foragers that if your "morel" has a spongy substance inside of the stem, it's not a morel. true morels have completely hollow stems from the bottom to the tip of the cap. also, learn to identify lookalikes too! black morel look alikes specifically can appear almost identical to inexperienced foragers. above all, do your research, bring a field guide if possible, and PLEASE use common sense. happy foraging :D
