Wait, so I haven't watched DW since the 50th, and the last episode said cremation was dooming loved one to eternal torture?
The latest episode was about the "afterlife". You find out that (apparently) people remain conscious after death, and their consciousness ends up in ~the promise land~, but they can still feel what happens to their bodies in the real world. So Danny is cold because his body is in the morgue -- and people who are cremated "feel" being cremated. There was this whole thing about the psychic cries of the dead and one phrase over and over being "don't cremate me". At one point, Danny hears someone in the distance scream in agony, and he asks what's happening, and he's told that person donated their body to science.
The whole "promise land" thing is some sort of Cyberman operation being run by the Master, so, whether or not this is going to be the "real" afterlife or something else remains to be seen. But still. Super fucked.
