The bar fight had thankfully been put to a stop by one of the bulkier chimeras, but they had not all escaped unscathed. The instigator had been from the military, with a state-issued pistol strapped to his side, which he didn’t hesitate to pull from its holster after he’d lost a drunken argument.

Thankfully, the bullet had grazed only the alchemist’s shoulder when he’d moved to investigate the disturbance, but still ripped up some of the meat, leaving a rather nasty gash in its wake. Once the soldier had been thrown out and the chimeras tended to their own wounds, Kimbley sat on a bar stool, clenching his jaw as Eirny took her time in sewing up the injury.

“Kind of you to volunteer,” he responded as she was partially through with her work. “Many would rather see me get an infection and bloat up with disease rather than give me even a moment’s aid.”
