i just fucking realized the ‘its what youre destined to do’ line implies that morgana sees a future where gwen rules camelot in a way she can’t stand for
and I think it’s that, after arthur dies, gwen never legalizes magic. but not because she thinks magic is evil. but because the backlash and threats she would endure for doing so means she literally cant.
given the way that seeing the future is shown every time in Merlin, its doubtful that whatever visions morgana had are very clear.
she sees a camelot where Gwen has the throne and having magic still has you persecuted. she cannot see context and she cannot understand that killing arthur rather than reasoning with him will only ensure the continued punishment of magic.
glimpses of the future are not definite, they are not set in stone. sometimes they are simply misleading. but often they are likely to come to pass and i think its clear the more you try to push against them the more you’re liable to cause them outright.
