Morgers tend to get lumped in with Analysts in Auror Offices, and the Boston Auror Office is no exception. As Post Mortem specialists, Morgers are trained Healers who perform postmortem examinations (autopsies), determine cause of death, issue death certificates, maintain death records with the assistance of Record Keepers, respond to deaths in mass disasters, and help identify the unknown dead.
Many Morgers are not trained Aurors, so they rarely work in the field. Instead, they work closely with Aurors and Analysts from the Morgue located in the Laboratory of the Boston Auror Office.
Morgers have mid level clearance. No Morger is allowed into the Evidence Locker unless supervised by a Record Keeper. They are also not allowed near the holding cells or interrogation rooms unless escorted by an Auror.
Despite their rather unsavory reputation, Morgers are not sinister creepers à la Tales from the Crypt. On the contrary, they are extremely capable wizards and witches, clever and thorough and every bit as deserving of your respect as any Auror.
Why become a Morger?
Do you hate the thought of roleplaying casework directly? Do you love the idea of working with dead bodies? Do you want other characters to think of you as creepy and morbid? Then a Morger may be the character for you! An office-bound character like a Morger would allow you to focus more heavily on the character’s social life or inter-office relationships while still keeping a connection to casework.
