Hey, I'm really sorry if I already sent you an ask, but I was on my phone yesterday and I'm not sure if it ever actually sent-- I was wondering how you made/got your Vav cosplay?? It's really freaking cool, and I'm trying to figure out how to make mine... I'm really sorry if this is pestering!!
thank you so much!! this is the first message i’ve gotten from you so you’re totally good.
i bought this leotard from amazon in the color royal blue.
the logo was the hardest part, but i was already familiar with a method used to bleach shirts using stencils made out of freezer paper. you can read about this method here, but replace the bleach and spray bottle with fabric paint and paintbrushes. one thing i would advise is to be super careful to follow the stencil because using brushes on the freezer paper stencil can make it get unstuck from the fabric, letting the paint bleed. i recommend jacquard’s fabric paint for everything fabric paint related (i used it on my cats costume which turned out SO!! GOOD!!), but if you can’t afford that, i actually just used generic white fabric paint for the entire logo, and painted blue and red acrylic paint over that.
i bought the gloves, thigh highs, and four garter belts that i didn’t end up wearing from sockdreams.com (all in red obvs). highly recommend. super fast (and free) shipping in the US.
i made the cape. it’s basically a reinforced rectangle with clasps around my neck with a huge half circle sewn to it. this video is A+ for cosplay capes and the like. unfortunately i don’t remember exactly the type of fabric but it was like a very heavy satin type thing.
i bought the shoes from my payless, the brand is comfort plus.
good luck with your cosplay!!
