I just don't feel safe.
Whether it's scurrying past the 3 guys who hang out near the abandoned building on my way to the bus stop- or being stared down by a weird guy on the bus, and then having him decide at the last minute to get off at the same stop as me- in the middle of nowhere- at 3:30am...This commute to work is exhausting me. Maybe it's all in my head. Maybe these guys are super nice guys and i'm just projecting my fear onto them... But my gut says no, and the fact of the matter is, this early morning/late night commute to work is STRESSFUL. This morning I brought my skateboard with me- thinking i could get away from someone faster if need be- and ended up giving myself a pretty bad asthma attack from skating uphill away from the guy who got off at the same stop as me this morning. (my work is in an industrial complex) And dude- don't STARE at random ladies the entire bus ride- it can make us a wee bit uncomfortable. Anyway- An asthma attack! I need advice. Should I just give up and go back to driving? Should i carry mace and take self defense courses? Have "9-1" dialed on the old celly? What?
AND WHEN WILL THIS NOT BE A THING FOR WOMEN?? And where are all the other women at that time of day? Is that international sketchy weird dude time? 3am? Night bus?
Help.
